In shopping at Magazines.com, I've found several magazines I didn't previously know existed, and I now read them regularly and love them. I have also been able to renew quite a few magazines that I already subscribed to either through the ...
Deceitful pricing and would not honor gift certificate. by jerryup,Dec 31 '06
My brother bought me a magazines.com gift card for Christmas. I doubt that I will even use it. First of all, I noticed that using the link in the gift card email automatically adds several dollars to the prices of most subscriptions as opposed to if you type the address in directly. Second I noticed that the prices of some subscriptions change based on what you add to your cart. For example, check the price for two popular men's magazine like Maxim and Stuff. Now add one to your cart and you'll get a recommendation for the other, at an increased price than what it was before! And lastly, my largest complaint, is that they would not let me order any subscriptions without me giving them my credit card info, even though I had a gift card worth more than the total amount of subscriptions I wanted to order.
they don't want long term customers - just long term $$$ by jules2007,Jan 19 '07
I've used this website in the past and never had any problems. Then I changed my e-mail address (which for this website, meant a whole new account). Whoa! All that old subscription history is GONE! I'm getting automatic renewal on stuff and I can't turn it off because that e-mail account is closed. Customer Service is no help, they say they have no records. Shouldn't they be able to link this better? Or is it a scam to force automatic renewals?
beware automatic charges for renewals by janwar,Oct 23 '06
The site is great for on-line ordering of magazines with good prices for almost any type of magazine. The problem comes at renewal time...beware automatic charges for renewals months ahead of the subscription expiration date. I was charged for a subscription renewal a full 8 months before the end of the subscription, and not just for one magazine.
Unreliable Customer Service & Website by jerms819,Jul 11 '08
Their website has been completely unreliable, and there are constantly outages. The customer support never seems to respond well or in a timely fashion. I wouldn't recommend this store to anybody. In fact, I'd rather pay a higher price for magazines than go through this much trouble on their website.
They have a great selection and their prices are very competitive. I had a question about my subscription after I ordered and called in to their customer service department. They were able to answer my questions no problem and the girl I talked to was very pleasant. What a great company, I would do business with them again!
This has been the most fantastic failing of a vendor I have experienced in some time. I ordered a magazine subscription in 2006 (for $200), and after a large amount of patience and only complaining once or twice, I finally get a notice in May 2007 that my order cannot be fulfilled. I never received a single magazine throughout that time. Effectively this was a free $200 loan to magazines.com. When I finally called in to cancel, half-way through my first sentence I was cut-off rudely. Subsequently, no real concessions were made on my behalf. I plan to highly discourage anyone and everyone from ordering from this organization.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! WILL NOT ORDER AGAIN! by brookers1,Jan 07 '08
Horrible customer service! I ordered a subscription in August for a birthday gift. Months later I checked with the recipient--nothing! I contacted customer service to find out the did not carry the magazine I ordered. Now, five months after my credit card was charged, I am still trying to get my credit card credited! My question is, how many customer service reps will respond to my emails before someone takes care of the credit!! It is not even about the $10 anymore! I have sent at least five emails! I will never order from magazines.com again! Terrible, terrible, terrible!
Terrible customer service. Won't use again. by trishpulver,Oct 09 '07
Terrible customer service and terrible service. Ordered a magazine in May. Charged my credit card and still have not received anything by mid-October. Magazine is a quarterly one but even if I missed the current issue I should have had the next one within 3 months. It has been over 5 months and they keep telling me 4-6 weeks. I have sent numerous emails and even tried calling but got no answer. I tried to cancel order and they refused. Said order was placed with publisher. I will never use their service again no matter what the price. I can get it elsewhere for all of this aggravation.
Easy to do and a good experience. Would be a repeat customer. by belleviewave,Sep 24 '07
I found shopping with Magazines.com to be very easy. The person that I spoke with at their 800 number was very personable and accurate in describing the specifics of my order such as when I could expect my first magazine. I would order from them again.
