We are avid readers. I prefer shopping the brick-n-mortars so I can take my time browsing and see what's new. I do actually prefer Barnes-N-Noble for browsing simply because their stores are laid out better. All the Dragonlance novels are together ...

Annoying!
I want to state the main downfall of BAMM.COM first. That is I do not like BAMM.COM the pop-ups that seem to jump out at you all the time while searching the site. Luckily they are mostly for book clubs or things...

GREAT PRICES
Booksamillion consistently provides the lowest prices of any online or brick-and-mortar bookstore. The store sells books, magazines, movies, music and more at prices frequently lower than sale prices at other locations. Plus,...
Pros: Sometimes cheapest, Delivery on time Cons: "Millionaire Club" makes searching for the cheapest price annoying, pop op windows are annoying.
When it comes to selecting a bookstore online, there are two key aspects I'm looking for.
1) Price - I was looking to buy a copy of the Beatles Anthology as a present for my wife. I used Bizrate.com to search for the cheapest price (more on...
Pros: Easy to navigate through their site! Cons: None I can think of!

We were going to purchase two books from Amazon.com, but since we live in Spain the shipping would have taken 6 to 22 business days with "Expedited Shipping" so we looked for alternatives. After some looking around we found some decent reviews for ...
I recently ordered a book from them. The book was about $15 on-line. $28 in the store. The clerk said they had more overhead in the store. $13 dollars worth of overhead for one book? Their coffee's not THAT good!
Pros: Low Prices, Easy to Purchase and Checkout. Cons: None.
A few weeks ago I was surfing the web looking for the book, A Separate Peace. I had to read it for school and do a report. Naturally, I didn't want to spend much money on a book for school, so I looked and looked for the lowest price. I checked...
I bought two books on Jan. 8, 2008 from this vendor with an expedited shipping so that I can get the books for my class. Now, it is Jan. 25, 2008, and after three (3) calls to their costumer service to resolve this issue, I still don't have the other ...

In ages past, whenever I wanted a book I'd pull up bestbookbuys.com and find out the best price for each book I wanted. It was rather time consuming and cumbersome, but eventually I ended up with some real bargains.
I have ordered several times from BAMM and am a member of their buyer's club for the extra discount. I really like that they use pricefarmer.com to show me if there is another site with a lower price for the book I'm considering. In most cases, BAMM is...
We buy a lot of books & books a million has been a tremendous find! Their site is not quite as easy to navigate as Amazon's, and they don't have as much in the way of reviews- but it is practically impossible to beat their price! If you know what you...
While I usually shop at the local Booksamillion store, I decided to try the online store with excellent results. While my first choice is Amazon.com, mainly because of familiarity, I would recommend that you try Booksamillion. All of the essentials,...

Best Place To Buy The Best Books by chrissynjon,Dec 29 '04
the delivery was speedy and my order, although extremely large, was all there! i will always do my online book purchasing from this site, they are awesome!!
My experience with Books a Million was not a good one. I initially planned on purchasing one book. They had a promotion for free shipping if you spent X dollars. I purchased two more books for this reason only, so yes, their marketing promotion worked.
The next day I get an email stating the main book that I ordered was out of stock and my order for that book was canceled. This was in spite of the fact that their site showed the book was in stock when I ordered it. I would have ordered elsewhere had I known.
This was bad enough, but then when I emailed them twice to cancel the complete order, they never gave the courtesy of a reply. Several days later, along came the two books that I had asked to have canceled.
Not the kind of customer service I would expect to receive. Seems like as long as it's a routine situation, you may get good service, but buyer beware if not.
A very disappointing experience.Website and customer service not accurate.A unreliable source for books. by jeel,Mar 07 '05
I made a purchase at Booksamillion.com through the internet. I had a fairly large multiple book order for a school so I called their toll free number to to be sure they indeed had enough copies of books. They assured me they did,so I was feeling confident about the order and pleased I was able to purchase at a great savings.
Five days later I received an email from Booksamillion.com saying my book order had been canceled. They said they did not have this book in stock and were unable to get the book in the future. They were sorry, and so am I for thinking this was a trusted site for bargain books.
I did call back the toll free number, but was unable to resolve why they all of a sudden had no copies of the book. I find it interesting as I see the book still listed at their website as available ,however the price had increased.
Not worth the time and effort by jackindabox,Apr 24 '08
First time online customer. Like the stores, so I decided to try a web purchase. Prices are comparable to other online booksellers, even found a $10 coupon. The selection is good, but web site navigation was cumbersome. Their choice of delivery service is questionable: Starts with UPS, who transfers the shipment to USPS. Took 15 days to ship my order to Virginia. For future online orders, I'll stick with BN, who usually delivers within 3 days.
Good deals, good experience. by ultramouse,Jun 30 '05
I don't have a whole lot to say about my experience, which in my mind is usually a good thing. Suffice to say I got a great deal from these folks and the shipping was incredibly fast. I bought a tech book and they do seem to have a very nice selection of them; very current and often at least 25% off the cover price.
I actually got free super saver FedEx, which isn't always incredibly fast but BAM got it out the door the very next morning after my order.
No problems at all, don't hesitate with these people, their deals are good.
Cheap prices but.. what's with the 'out of stock' messages 2 days later by wilky70,Dec 30 '04
I ordered 2 books from them 2 days later I got a notice saying that one of the books was out of stock. I guess they have no Inventory checking with their website... so buyer beware.
Choose them if you are looking for a bargain and willing to gamble on not getting the book you order, and having to go elsewhere if not.
Booksamillion.com - Worst Shopping Experience EVER by bothiny,Feb 21 '07
I recently ordered a personal organizer on Booksamillion.com and when I finally received the item a week later (it took a long time to process the order), the inside pages were bound upside down and backwards - which makes the organizer worthless. I contacted Booksamillion to have a replacement sent, which was going to be send via snail mail. I argued that because this was not my mistake or fault, they should over-nite the organizer, which they agreed to. Now, nearly a week later, I have still not received the organizer. When I called to ask why, they said that there was a mistake in their shipping department and it should be here soon.
I have placed orders on line for several years now and this is by far the WORST on line purchase and service I have ever encountered. I strongly advise anyone thinking of buying anything from Booksamillion.com to shop elsewhere!!!
Dismal Shipping Time, Poor Customer Service, Club Membership Not Worth it by woodlandtrails,Oct 20 '08
Ordered 4 books. It over 3 weeks to get 2 of them. I had to call/email Booksamillion to request status. They seemed surprised I didn't want to wait several more weeks until they received the last book to ship them together. They reluctantly shipped 2 out of 4 out. Also, I inadvertantly joined their $15.00 membership club card and since I needed to order 6 more books, I compared the price of these books with overstock.com, amazon.com and Booksamillion membership card prices. Booksamillion was higher on this new order as well as the next book order I placed. I then asked booksamillion to cancel my $15 membership and to increase the price of the 4 books I previously purchased by the nonmembership rate which wasn't much. Instead Booksamillion retaliated and completely cancelled my last 2 books orders. Then emailed me and told me to reorder them if I still wanted them. That isn't going to happen and I will never use their company again.
customer service non-existent by philvermeyen,Dec 08 '05
I've bought $thousands of books from Booksamillion. As long as everything is OK, this merchant is OK. But if you need customer service, you're out of luck. 3 days after placing a $185 order, my accounts page with booksamillion shows that the order has been shipped. 4 days later they send me an email saying that my address is invalid, although the address works for everybody else, and booksamillion themselves had just shipped another order to this same address. I sent several emails. I called "customer service" 3 times, asking them to assure me that the order would be sent soon and mailed priority, as I needed this order soon. Noon of the 3 "customer service" agents could even understand the situation, much less assure me that booksamillion was even doing anything with my order. So I canceled the order, as well as 2 others, canceled my membership, and ordered the exact same books from buy.com, but had to pay $44 for 2 day-shipping. IF YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO NEED CUSTOMER SERVICE, STAY AWAY FROM BOOKSAMILLION.
