Pros: Accurate, fast, very few "junk" sites Cons: Almost no commercial sites.
Direct hit is one of the only search engines that gives me what I need fast. It's easy to use, easy to submit to, and fast. You have to have all these factors to make a search engine grow and survive, but this is even better than most.
Pros: Performed well enough for general search terms. Cons: Inaccurate or insufficient results for advanced or specific queries
Direct Hit has failed to impress me with either its interface or its search capabilities. The searches I conducted met technical difficulties, returned too many irrelevant results, or returned no results at all.
Pros: More hits, less wild-goose chases Cons: Limited advanced search capability
PICTURE THIS:
You're looking for the manufacturer of the shoe polish you use... (work with me here, you are very interested in polishing your shoes and oy! can't seem to find that perfect shade of brown) ... enter in your key words and voila!...
Pros: Relevant searches, results are pre-selected by other users Cons: No fresh sites, ranks the sites based on description, not on content
Frankly speaking, I don't see a reason why would I need to choose DirectHit over some other search engines. DirectHit does not provide the coverage that the large search engines do (by coverage I mean the number of documents indexed), but it prides...
Pros: Easy to use; ranks results based on links made to a web page Cons: Direct Hit is a search engine for general use-- special searches require special search engines
Direct Hit at [http://www.directhit.com] is a search engine made for general use, but it works differently from most general use search engines. Most general use search engines search for web pages containing the term entered in the search field....
Direct Hit is by the far the best of the search engines on paper and in reality. According to their site, Direct Hit bases their search responses according to the number of people who visit those websites and the time they spend there. They accordingly...
Pros: Fast, accurate hits, suggestions are active sites Cons: None of which I am aware.
I've been surfing the net for almost 5 years now and have, at one time or another, used almost all of the many search engines. I am aware that my family and many of my friends use Yahoo and I have been through that phase also. However, once I used...
Pros: finds exactly what you want every time Cons: no 'search within results' option
Direct Hit does not have the option to search within your results, but this is the only problem I see with this search engine. I usually find whatever I need, whether it be information for a research paper or directions to the nearest tobacco shop....
Pros: Works best for terms that have been asked a lot Cons: Some sites may not contain your answer
If you looked at my title -- and I bet you did, you can stop reading now. Learning from user feedback is the essence of what direct hit does for you. It's constantly checking to see what people are searching for and cataloging what they click on to find...
Pros: This site provides more relevant search results Cons: None
The best thing about Direct Hit Search Engine is that if you're looking for something specific, you're more likely to find it on the first try. Direct Hit analyses the most popular and most visited sites and than shows results based on relevance. ...
Pros: No commercial sites or junk sites Cons: none
This is probably one of my favorite search engines when I am looking for something in particular. I think that it is really good because you almost always find what you are looking for. Also, I find that you do not come up to porn sites like you do...
Pros: good results, good place to be listed Cons: not much business sites.
Direct Hit is an awesome search engine. Though I do have some bias in favor of it. Most of the time I use Yahoo! or excite but, once and a while I use direct hit.
First off, I submitted a website to their search engine a few months ago. Then...
Pros: Killer logo, great results Cons: It's not easy being green
Direct hit square in the forehead with a two by four. The mechanism behind this search engine does a fabulous job of anticipating what I am really looking for, and my favorite feature is the relative searches. These are much more relevant than most...
Pros: it's fast, good ranking method Cons: google usually is much better
Direct Hit supposedly gives you results based on how often they're clicked on by users. The question arises though: you don't know if the site is good until you click on it, so what if you click the result, and the site doesn't help? It still counts as a...
When you use Directhit, you get no irrelavant results, or spam, it is accurate, and the site design is pleasant and refreshing. The site is now owned by Ask Jeeves, the owners of ask.com.
Direct Hit breaks it's search down into websites. The...
