About the grill The Char-Broil Patio Caddie I have is a 14 inch porcelain coated electric grill with a heavy metal grate. A smaller grate under the heating element holds about 10 flavored briquettes. The grill is mounted on a stand with three metal ...

About the grill The Char-Broil Patio Caddie Electric is a 14 inch grill with a blue porcelain enamel finish. The cooking grate is also coated with a thick porcelain enamel. A smaller grate under the heating element holds about 10 flavored ...
Pros: Easy to clean, reliable, attractive, perfect for apartment living. Cons: None so far.
I bought this grill for my darling husband who insisted that a man is not a man without a grill. Unfortunately, when you live in a high rise with a small terrace and sticky co-op rules against charcoal, gas and propane, your options are quite limited. ...
Pros: Perfect viable urban grill. Fuss-free. Plug, Preheat, Cook, Enjoy. Cons: Max temperature low. Need cover on to cook. In winter, may not get hot enough.
Reason I bought this product. I live in a multi-unit condominium building with a small wooden back porch in the city of Chicago. Fire codes prevented me from purchasing a charcoal or gas grill. So when I discovered that this product existed, it ...
Pros: Safe, convenient, cooks a wide range of foods, easy daily maintenance. Cons: Deep cleaning is dodgy; worth paying extra to have it delivered assembled.
I moved to a home with a deck, where I would not use charcoal, and I am too nervous about gas, natural or propane, to use it in more places than necessary. I wanted an electric grill, and was shocked to see that all the big stores here, from Fortunoff's ...
Pros: Compact, efficient, great value, quick to use and clean! Cons: Small cooking surface not suited for a Brady-Bunch sized family.
I originally bought this grill in 1998 for mostly personal use. As a Florida resident, it can be guaranteed of year-round use. I use my grill about once a week. My intentions for a grill to buy were quick to use, efficient, easy to clean and durable. ...
Pros: Mobility, ease of use and size. Cons: Replacement parts which are nearly impossible to find.
My husband and I received this grill, as a gift, from my brother-in-law. Our experience with this grill was great until it came time to replace the usual parts for it. It has loads of space, for such a compact unit, as the cover is rounded. This makes ...
Pros: size Cons: Everything operative about this guy; heating element is the worst.
Absolutely the WORST disappointment. Okay, I admit that prior to buying this guy, I lived in a nice big house that accommodated the small sized Genesis Weber Gas grill which I had to dispose of when making the choice to move to a metropolitan loft with ...
Pros: Style, size, ease of use Cons: Flimsy grease cup swings around when grill is moved.
I love my Patio Caddy. I have had it for about 5 years. The first year, it had to sit outside because I had no place to store it in my townhouse. I wish it came with a cover. Since then, it has sat on my back porch. (I usually bring the power cord in.) It is the perfect size for me and a couple of guests - even had a company barbecue here using only my grill. The only thing I object to is the flimsy grease cup and its method of attaching. Mine now leaks like a sieve- no, really. Grease just pours out of numerous holes that developed during the aforementioned barbecue. What a mess. Otherwise, I love it. I don't really mind the lack of a cover because the grill has such style you don't mind sharing your space with it.
Pros: Convenient, gets very hot, compact Cons: Low quality, no customer service, warranty is meaningless.
I purchased one abut 8 years ago and worked great for 5 years. Moved back into an apartment temporarily while building house and purchased another one for the patio (propane/charcoal illegal for apartments in Austin)and after 4 months of average use the control burned out at the burner connection. Went to selling dealer, Barbeques Galore in Austin, TX and was told "we sell grills not parts, try looking online" so contacted Char-broil and was told they do not sell parts, visit a local dealer.
Found the parts online but the two pieces are 50% of the cost of a new one and it is not worth it. It is unfortunate that one of the oldest names in grills has gone to low quality poor service.
don't even bother buying it. my roommate bought one for the back porch. there is NO HEAT--it barely sears meat on high. The temp gauge never reads above 350-400 degrees, and it reaches that temp only after 20 minutes plus of preheating. we even bought the extra cost heat distributing briquettes to no avail. the only way to cook with it is to leave your food in there with the top on for 30 minutes or so. Afterwards you have a nice STEAMED steak. Yuk! I wish I had my old, yet rusty sears model that still worked--i gave it away when my roommate brought this dog home. Oh yeah, the top doesn't rest securely on the grill either--2nd time we used it, it fell right off, nearly burning the cat and the handle snapped right in two. Save your money! buy something else!!! ITS EVIL.
Pros: great size and reliability Cons: for small quantities
I've had the charbroil LP patio caddie for 3+ years. I leave it outside in all kinds of weather and it always works first time.
Gets very hot 550 degrees f. If you don't get enough heat in yours then you've assembled the venturi wrong....
great grill, poor construction of thermostat and heating element connection by keyss,Sep 27 '07
Pros: heats up fast and won't flame up, thus, no burnt steaks, chicken. Cons: 90 day warranty, poor construction of thermostat and heating element connection
I bought the Caddie Grill. It worked great for the first 4 months. The thermostat and the heating element burned out. Called Char-Broil, it only had a warranty of 90 days. Now I know why...I've read on line that this is a reoccurring problem with this model....It would cost me about 50% of the purchase to replace the defective parts....Not worth it....If your interested in this product, make sure to check the connections of the heating element from time to time to ensure a proper clean connection of the thermostat and heating element. Otherwise it will burn out quickly. it's a shame, because I really loved this grill....
Pros: Small size.nice enamel grill. the best I saw of the small grills. Cons: cheap element like the plastic handle.
Fair product for price. We bought it for a small deck without room for large grill. We always use high heat and with the lid on to get it hot enough. But after a month or so the plastic handle on top which gets very, hot broke with a small bump. I contacted company but their warantee process was too cumbersome for a broken handle. Some parts seem nicely made like the kettle part and especially the heavy grade grill. The plastic parts like the legs are borderline acceptable but the plastic handle on top was cheap. Wasn't overly expensive but a broken grill after just part of the summer is a drag.
Pluses are definitely the small size footprint and the overall attractive look, the enamel colors are nice and not cheap. Doesn't get super hot but I don't think most smaller grills get fiery hot.
