Pros: Casting, costuming, WWII setting, faithful to comic book version of the character Cons: Some stock footage problems, some effects and situations seem dated now
This review, like so many others before it, could be the source of embarrassment for me. But, due to repeated damage to my facial capillaries, I can no longer blush. So here goes. Stop and think about Wonder Woman. Chances are, the first version ...
Pros: perfect casting of Lynda Carter, good stories, good role model Cons: stilted dialogue, some uncoordinated special effects
The mid-1970’s was a time of a new, more modern heroes on television. Shows like The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman gave us heroes who lived everyday lives like the rest of us, with The Bionic Woman ...
Pros: Fun, decent stories Cons: Cheesy, some stiff acting from Lynda Carter at times
There is something about Wonder Woman I just can't let go. Yes, the show is cheesy and dated, especially by today's standards. But it is still so much fun. Of course, it helps that star Lynda Carter is drop dead gorgeous. This show was ...
Pros: Tongue-in-cheek approach, gorgeously produced costume, faithful to original concept Cons: 70s special effects with a limited budget, later episodes have writing and acting weaknesses
When the marketers of this DVD set call this the complete "first season" of Wonder Woman, it's a bit of joke. They may as well call it the ABC years, because this set actually covers all of the episodes that network aired over the course of two ...
Pros: It's cheesy fun; has girl power for women, and female beauty for men. Cons: Takes awhile to get going before it's enjoyable.
OK, now if you're interested in purchasing the first season of Wonder Woman, you're probably not the type of person who would care about continuity problems or cheesy special effects. I actually love these kind of shows, not just for the antiquity, but ...
Pros: Nostalgia, Documentary. Cons: Minimal special features, double sided discs.
Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman finally comes to DVD! The pilot, all first season episodes and a new documentary are included. These episodes are set in the World War 2 era and try to mimic the Comic Book feel. These episodes are great fun, but do start to feel cheesy after a while. The art work for the box is great, but there is not art on the discs because they are double sided. The new documentary contains some great information, but is pretty short. There is also commentary from Lynda and the producer on the pilot, which is great! However, there are no other special features. The menus are good and play the infectious theme song. One exception would be the special features menus, most of which contain nothing and simply direct you to a different disc. Would love to see more special features on future releases.
