OK - here are a few more thoughts to help any of you still sitting on the fence.

1. The original cast is back except for John Lithgow. Antonio Banderas joins as the hilarious Puss-in-Boots.

2. This movie is very funny, for both children and adults. The movie is rated PG for scatalogical humor and a brief drug-related reference, catnip, in this case.

3. The story is solid, although it does lack the skewer- Michael-Eisner-and-everything-Disney mood of the original film.

4. The animation is better than ever - as technology advances so the "cinematography".

That's REALLY all you need to know. Get out there and enjoy this movie.

Hubby and I took our kids and two of their friends to see Shrek2 last night. We all thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The animation is better, smoother and more life-like than in the original.

The story concerns Fiona being called home so that her parents the King & Queen of Far, Far Away can meet their new son-in-law. The original cast, less John Lithgow, is back, and it appears they really enjoyed voicing these characters. They are joined by Antonio Banderas in an inspired role as assassin-cum-sidekick, Puss-in-Boots. There's even a cameo by a certain blonde icon now with the E! network.

There are plenty of sight gags for the adults, ala the old Warner Brothers cartoons. Look for psuedo-product placements that are quite funny.

The movie runs 93 minutes, and not a second is wasted.
The story moves along at a good pace - not so fast that
it's hard to keep up, but it never drags. The surround sound is incredible - be sure to see it at a surround theater.

There is plenty to entertain kids and adults. However, the movie does lack the satiric undertones of the original. And I for one, miss Lord Farquad.

Let's just say in the normal case, watching the same movie over and over again, gets really annoying. It makes you want to pull out your hair. Shrek 2 is not the normal case though. Watching the movie, all over again constantly, does not really phase me at all. Every time I sit down to watch it with the children, I can't help but laugh or atleast smile at the constant moving hilarium. Even though the children are not old enough to understand wht is being sad during the movie, she is always giggling and saying "Wow". The clear, bright active screen and characters are enough to amuse anyone! It certainly has a good effect on a persons mood! I would suggest that it belongs in every home where there is a child.

Cons: Too few jokes for the adults only that are watching the movie.

"Shrek 2" is a wonderfully animated movie that reintroduces us to an Ogre (Mike Myers) and his formerly human wife, "Fiona" (Cameron Diaz), as well as introduces us to her parents.

The story mostly takes place in "Far Far Away," a place where characters from popular fairy tales come to life.

The acting is great, especially when it comes to the chemistry between Myers and Diaz, as well as Eddie Murphy ("Donkey"). Nearly every performance is believable.

There are a lot of jokes directed at the children in the audience, but there are a few that only the adults will understand. Also, there are many sight gags that will make you laugh out loud. Watch out for some of the puns though.

Myers is fantastic as the title character. He, and possibly Eddie Murphy as well, steal many of the scenes they are in. Another fun performance is by Antonio Banderas as "Puss-in-Boots". Diaz and Jennifer Saunders ("Fairy Godmother") are also great in their roles.

With the mix of incredible computer animation, a great cast and a fun story, "Shrek 2" is one of the most fun movies in recent movie history.

Pros: Great satire and humor.
Cons: Definitely, NOT for kids!

First of all, as an adult viewing this movie, I found it clever, witty and filled with many sly and mature parodies of popular culture. I laughed at the obvious connection between, "Far Far Away," and Hollywood. I snickered at the double entendres and wry little sexual references. I found the story to be a logical, adult progression of the original Shrek story.

As a parent, however, I was disappointed that a movie that has been so aggressively marketed towards children, was so raunchy. From the baudy women who offer to be the enchanted Shrek's "one true love," (and the one who says she will be, "mostly true") to the rowdy, sexually suggestive, musical numbers by the Fairy Godmother, this movie is filled with enough sexual tension to fill an, "American Pie," movie. Ultimately, this movie is a sham, because it promises, "family fun for all ages," and ends up delivering, "adult fun aimed at all ages."

I loved this movie. It was very cute, sweet and innocent. Though I certaintly did not enjoy this more than the first one. I wasn't as funny as I expected. I loved the plot concept.Shrek and Fiona go to meet Fiona's parents only to find they don't want an ogre for a prince. So Shrek tries to become Fiona's knight in shining armour. With the help of Puss, and Donkey.Though Fiona's father and fairy god mother and Charming get in his way. The whole movie is great for the whole entire family. It made me laugh. And we finnaly meet the Muffin man, fiona's parents, prince charming, and Fiona's fairy godmother

Pros: Great cast, stellar soundtrack, animation top notch. Highly recommend this. The dancing and music rock.
Cons: Prince Charming is too pretty to be convincing.

Shrek and Fiona return from their honeymoon. After showing home movies to their friends, they and Donkey are off on another wild adventure to the land of Far Far Away.

The adjustments to married life are difficult and Shrek feels out of place in his new in-laws home. Fiona's father isn't too crazy about him either and puts a hit out on him. The assassin is a cuddly looking kitty named Puss N Boots.

Shrek also has a new rival for his wife's affections, Prince Charming, an old love of Fiona's. Will Shrek step aside for this handsome foe?
