Chickaday chicadee

by susidee34, May 13 '00
Pros: Foster, a talent of the highest caliber
Cons: ....
A haunting and thought provoking tale of a girl/woman growing up alone in the backwoods of North Carolina. Discovered after a store owner delivers groceries and finds the body of Nell's mother lying on the floor, she is suddenly thrust into a spotlight...

Nell is Hell

by moonmoods_52, Jan 09 '00
Pros: none
Cons: everything about the flick
I love Jodie Foster as an actor, but I hate her film "Nell". If there is a hell and I am sent there, all the Devil has to do is force me to watch this noisy, mediocre movie over and over throughout eternity. I respect Liam Neeson as an actor...

Nell

by NANAD99, Jan 16 '00
Pros: Very emotional
Cons: very emotional
Moonmoods has the right to his opinion on Nell, but I happen to disagree. Nell is a very sensitive story about a young girl who was raised outside the civilized world. When her grandmother who raised her dies she is forced into the civilized world....

Foster's Best Effort

by WitchWmn, Nov 30 '99
Pros: Amazing acting, great story line and plot
Cons: Can be hard to follow for some
Jodie Foster's starring role in this sleeper hit is the best work of her career. The emotional highs and lows of this character would be difficult for many other actresses to portray, but Foster not only manages, she excels.

I first saw this...

5 stars!!

by xtwizx, Nov 20 '99
Pros: great storyline, beautifull scenery.
Cons: I didnt want it to end.
I saw this movie about 3-4 years ago and its remained to be in my top 10 list. Beautifull scenery, filmed in Nort Carolina, its a great story of a girl raised by a hermit mother in the middle of the woods without any sort of "civilized"...

Nell..One of the Most Intelligent Films by ms foster

by blackelve, Jan 11 '00
Pros: intelligent film that has something to say..if you listen
Cons: none
Nell is a highly intelligent film that makes a person think about themselves in a different way.
If not...then you need to really listen in to what she says in the court room.

Ms. Foster has always been my favorite actress since...

The best movie of Jodie Foster's career

by PSTG62, Dec 17 '99
Pros: Story line, cast, scenery, music, everything
Cons: Didn't last long enough.
WOW, what else can be said about such a wonderful movie. Jodie Foster played a very tough role and did it with flair. Very believable and mind-boggling. This shows what rough living and being secluded are really about. I couldn't imagine living...

Our official pick for the worst film of the 1990s

by M.S., Dec 29 '99
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
By Max Scheinin.

As we near the end of the millenium, but also the end of the decade, perhaps we should look back and try to discern some overall pattern that emerged from the films we've watched and loved -- or despised -- over the past ten...

sensitive treatment of an unusual character

by mcrowl, Nov 28 '00
Pros: made with integrity
Cons: some nudity
Not many modern films leave the audience sitting in silence at the end. But when Nell came to its conclusion, the audience I was with remained hushed, contemplative. This is all the more remarkable since Nell is not an outstanding film; it has a number...

A bit trite

by Kidnykid, Dec 31 '99
Pros: --
Cons: The assumptions behind the script
Jodie Foster plays a woman who never developed proper, understandable speech because her mother isolated her from civilization for the majority of her life, ever since she was small.

Why was Foster's character so isolated? Why did the mother...

Not the best movie, but great just the same

by snowy2001, Oct 10 '01
Pros: Pretty good acting, GREAT ending
Cons: Partial nudity, adult situations, a little creepy
Nell is the story of a woman (Jodie Foster) who is raised, along with her twin sister, by her mother, in the woods in North Carolina. Her mother had half of her face paralyzed, and so can only talk with .5 of her facial muscles. Nell and her sister,...

I believe that's chick-a-pee...
by valsank,Dec 16 '03
Pros: Great story, takes you to an unfamiliar place. That's what I like in a movie.
Cons: Although I loved it, I had to watch a few times to understand some parts.
I think this is one of Jodie Fosters best movie. She made the role of Nell totally believable. It's a great story. It never hurts to have Liam N. as a supporting actor.
