Pros: Independent agency-accepts no advertising from any products Cons: Sometimes, but rarely, I am looking at purchasing an item of a brand they have not evaluated.
Of all the consumer comparison magazines, I prefer Consumer Reports. I have found this magazine to be more comprehensive than some of the others. Consumer Reports is a highly reputable product testing agency that accepts no advertising, therefore, is...

Pros: the magazine is like a bible Cons: you don't put down the bible
I am sure there are people who have been dissatisfied with the product reviews, and am sure there are mistakes made in them.
Whenever I buy a car, I head for the library and get the issues on cars, and check them out! They haven't steered me...

Pros: always has interesting articles Cons: not always very diversified
We have had a subscription to Consumer Reports for about 3 years now and we love it. We have bought our cordless phone because they recommended it and we always try to see how they rate products before we buy. I love the book that we get yearly on...

Pros: Tests and tries all types of products and services, so you don't have to! Cons: None so far.
This particular magazine is about as close as you are going to get regarding the experience of trying and testing new products and services, without actually doing it yourself.
They have a staff of employees who test, try and determine...

Pros: Good product reviews (when they have them) Cons: Too much social commentary
As a long time subscriber to Consumer Reports, I have decided not to renew. I enjoy reading the product reviews and have found that their reviews are usually true to the mark. However, I am finding that the number of product reviews are getting fewer and...

Pros: Informative, unbiased and sometimes entertaining Cons: Too many subscriber invite cards throughout the magazine
I must say that Consumer Reports is like a bible for anyone that wants to know the facts before making any major purchases for example, they have special issues pertaining to new automobiles and give valuable information on used cars as well. Also...

Pros: My Son had memorized the specs from the Buyers Guide, which helped me immensely! Cons: See my remarks above about what's covered in the magazine subscription.
I couldn't believe someone put a 1 star rating on Consumer Reports Magazine, related to vehicle purchases! If you buy the magazine subscription through Consumer Reports Union, you also get a free Annual Buyers Guide, which is like getting a one year's ...

Pros: Product information on Everything from Condiments to Automobiles Cons: There is a shortage of competition, so sometimes you may question reliability.
A must have for any family. This is an excellent source for product information on everything from Condiments to Automobiles. If you are a cost-conscience consumer, this will help you cut corners without cutting quality.
Many think of...

Pros: You get an unbiased opinion. Cons: Not enough products and/or variations are covered.
Every month for the last year I've gotten a new magazine, and I have yet to feel like I've truly benefitted from the knowledge I've gained from any of them.
The September issue is the perfect example. It rated Internet Service Providers...

Pros: Sly Title Cons: Anti-American
I have subscribed to CR off and on for years...mostly off, but like a dog returning to its own vomit, I always return to the steaming heap to see if the flavor has changed. It hasn't. Just like a soap opera revisted after years of not viewing, the plot...

Pros: No "outside" ads keep their reviews unbiased Cons: Social Commentary has caused this Magazine to stray from its mission
I have slowly seen a degradation in the quality and quantity of the reviews. Far too much space is given to other issues, and other Consumer Report's products for sale.
I have watched as reviews of items I track have been "recycled", that is they...

Good Magazine for product information and comparing products and prices.
by dalia728,Apr 15 '07
Pros: Good informative information on comparative shopping, product information and description Cons: Website can be outdated. Website has a fee even though you subscribe to magazine.
I am a subscriber to Consumer Reports Magazine and I value the information the magazine writes on comparing different products and prices. I also subscribe to the consumer reports magazine web site, ConsumerReports.org. which also compares different products and prices.
