Pros: Americans will definitely learn something new Cons: Pro-Israel Americans may not like her perspective
LEAP OF FAITH tells what amounts to a love story. Queen Noor al Hussein (which means The Light of Hussein in Arabic) merely glosses over her days as Lisa Halaby in the early chapters of this book in favor of describing her experience of "culture shock"...
Pros: A little lighter than I expected Cons: Some of the history is confusing
This is written in an intimate style, where Queen Noor bares her soul and her own story. The politics involved in this book are light - enough so you understand the reasons behind the king's feelings and decisions. She gives honest portrayals of the...
Pros: Very thorough; eye-opening; witty Cons: Very long (14 AudioDisks)
I borrowed this fabulous book from our local library on AudioDisk and will definitely purchase the book in hardcopy form. This book is a fantastic, eye-opening adventure for the average American who is unfamiliar with Middle East culture and history. It is a witty, factual, and absolutely intriguing look into Jordan's belief systems and how it views the United States, its Presidents and political relations. Queen Noor begins the memoir with her own history from childhood and spans over 30 years of her life detailing everything in her life and how she handled all of the amazing changes. An absolute read for any girl who doubts she can help to change the world. This book would be an excellent gift.
Pros: Leap of Faith sheds light on the arab world during a time of crisis. Cons: Leap of Faith is heavily geared towards english-speaking americans.
Queen Noor's Leap of Faith: Memoirs of an Unexpected Life is an epic tale of one woman's journey. Noor takes us on a magical ride as she graduates from Princeton and begins to explore her Arab heritage. After a secret whirlwind courtship with King Hussein she gains the title of Queen, a move unexpected by everyone. Noor proves to be an extraordinarily strong woman who can run a country as well as a home. Leap of Faith ends with the tragic death of her husband after a brief battle with cancer. Leap of Faith is a book that should be in every woman's collection.
