jro26's Full Review: Hard Hat Harry - Race Cars and Monster Trucks
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
My son has been to a monster truck Monster Jam show as well as visiting the home of Gravedigger in NC. He loves lining up cars and driving his Gravedigger monster truck over them while shouting "GRAAAAVEDIGGER!". When we were at the library checking out movies he saw this Hard Hat Harry movie with pictures of race cars and monster trucks on it. He just had to watch it.
When you put the DVD in you can select whether you would like to watch the Race Cars or Monster Trucks. He of course wanted to watch the Monster Trucks first. This takes out the hassle of having to fast forward over the unappealing episode. These are documentary type movies that follow live-action monster trucks and cars that go fast.
Hard Hat Harry is a guy who, in some of the movies, has 'genie' powers and can take kids from place to place to experience these things first hand. Hard Hat Harry doesn't have the best personality in the world but he sure manages to keep my sons attention throughout a half hour show. Hard Hat Harry teaches children aged 3-10 how monster trucks are built, maintained and used. The total lengthe of the whole DVD is a little over an hour.
The car episode follows race cars in Formula One, NASCAR, demolition derbies (my son LOVED this part!), dragsters and more.
One of the best things about Hard Hat Harry movies is that kids learn about safety and that you can actually get hurt using these big and fast vehicles. One thing that turned me off from the movie was that it seems like it was filmed in the early 90's judging from the quality of the movie but I think that's because this isn't a big budget movie by any means. If you like this Hard Hat Harry movie find the Safety Vehicle one as that is a great movie for young kids who like fire trucks, police cars, etc.
You can still buy these Hard Hat Harry DVD's and they actually come in packs of 6 for a great price.
