sweetcece's Full Review: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Usually when a series comes to an end, there's a grand finale to always help you review everything that was unique and wonderful about that series so that when you play the series end over and over again, that "feel good" feeling will still be there after all of those years.
Such is the movie that is the official ending of the adventures of the Starship Enterprise and the original crew of Star Trek. Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country is the complete turnaround of the previous Star Trek movie - The Final Frontier which I believe was too much hype and not enough umph to take it from the big screen to the video world. However, with Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country the excitement and adventure that kept you on the edge of your seat at the movie theatre in 1991 is still there within the video now almost a decade later.
Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country's main plot involves the proposition of peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. The Klingons have a crisis because their primary production facility has blown up and they will eventually die off without help or a war to defeat their enemies.
In order to negotiate peace, the crew of the Starship Enterprise is assigned to escort the Klingon ambassador to Earth for a peace talk. However, he is assassinated in route to the meetting and Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy are accused, tried and sentenced for this murder. A great search for the truth about the assassination, the rescue of Kirk and McCoy occurs, and the prevention of yet another assassination at the peace talks has the Enterprise fighting yet another enemy, one that will surely surprise you at the end.
With the suspense, action, and classical Star Trek feel for this movie along with the including of a great story line of the Klingons, this movie is a true classic befitting not only all true Star Trek lovers but anyone who enjoys science fiction, period.
This is, by far, one of my all time favorite movies, especially of the Star Trek series, and I highly recommend it to you all.
