My wife on the other hand is all about staying in shape. She works out thirty to forty-five minutes a day on her elliptical, tries to eat healthy and on alternate days she does her weight training. At night she works out for five minutes with the Bun and Thigh Max. She does not like to use the weight training system we have in the gym so we purchased her a few different hand weights. We bough several different sizes but she typically uses the 5 lb Neoprene Hand Weight by Weider.

You can buy the Weider line of Neoprene Hand Weight from Sears and the price is pretty good. That is where we purchased a lot of the equipment for the gym. The 5 pounds weights are blue in color and the weight is distributed evenly across the center and both sides of the dumbbell. I would say that the middle of the weight, the part you grasp onto when working out, probably weighs about two pounds and the other 3 pounds is on the ends.

The entire 5 lb Neoprene Hand Weight is covered in Neoprene. What is Neoprene? It is a synthetics rubber that is widely used in many items you might be familiar with such as wetsuits, iPod holders and is also used as weather stripping on doors. It provides much better protection than nylon and rubber and provides better insulation and gripping qualities.

Each of the 5 lb Neoprene Hand Weights by Weider put us back about $7.00 two years ago. On both ends of the hand weight you will find a number representing the number of pounds the weight is and the Weider name in white print. After a couple of years this has started to wear off but you can still make out the information.

The part of the 5 lb Neoprene Hand Weight that you grasp is 4 inches long and has a circumference of 2 3/4 inches. Each one of the ends has a diameter of 2 and 3/4 inches and has a one inch depth. Both of the ends are shaped like hexagons.

These hand weights have proven to be very durable. The neoprene has not worn off but does have a few dinks in it but I do not expect it to be in perfect shape considering how much it is used. I would recommend that you purchase the Weider 5 lb Neoprene Hand Weight as an addition to your weight training system.
