Pros: Seasonal only.
Cons: Smells nothing like gingerbread! Actually unpleasant smelling.
The Bottom Line: While The Body Shop usually does home fragrance well, Gingerbread is a bad-smelling disaster!

I am usually a tremendous fan of The Body Shop and their long-lasting, scented home fragrance oils are one of my favorite products that I don't hesitate to recommend. The exception to that recommendation is definitely the putrid smelling Gingerbread Home Fragrance Oil!
Product Use
The Body Shop carries a pretty wide selection of home fragrance oils. They are tiny little bottles of very concentrated fragrance that is designed to use in their (or any really) oil burners. You simply place a few drops in the top of the oil burner and add a small amount of water. Then you light a votive candle underneath and enjoy the fragrance. These are designed to only burn for ten minutes. The oils are quite fragrant and they do the job in a hurry. They also evaporate quickly and you will either need to add more product or just stop using the burner.
Price & Availability
This (and all) Body Shop products have somewhat limited availability. They are sold only at their brick and mortar stores, online at TheBodyShop.com or directly via a Body Shop consultant. In addition, this is a seasonal product available only around the holiday season. Normally I find this a bit of the bummer and I'm a big fan of The Body Shop's seasonal scents, but in this case, it is a definite plus to limit its availability. Interestingly enough, you can still find this at TheBodyShop.com on clearance. That ought to tell you something about how much you might want to avoid it. The regular price of the home fragrance oils is $7.50 for .3 ounces of product. This may seem steep, but they are truly long lasting items.
The Disappointment
I cannot stress enough, just how badly this product smells! I am a fan of homey, food scents, and especially at the holiday times. Thoughts of gingerbread and spicy goodness coupled with my fondness for The Body Shop home fragrance oils, just made me a sucker for the Gingerbread fragrance. The reality of this scent is that it is not akin to gingerbread at all. I think it smells like something burnt in the toaster, with just a hint of lemon. I have tried it several times, hoping it was just my nose playing tricks on me, and unfortunately it still stinks! (not in a good way).
Packaging is done in a glass bottle, with a child safety cap. I assume this means that there are dangerous ingredients in the home fragrance oils, though I apologize that I cannot locate them anywhere.
