I love growing flowers: in the garden, in planters and in hanging baskets. The only thing I don't like is all the time it takes to water them all. Last year I bought three self-watering hanging baskets which worked so well, I just bought another 3 to use this year! These are very durable pots that should last season after season.
Self-Watering Hanging Baskets - The Good
There are a lot of good things about the Self-Watering Hanging Baskets. I like the fact that the basket is available in five colors and is hung from a cord instead of the plastic holders many hanging baskets use. It is also nice that the cord color matches the pot color.
The planters look great with a solid color, single type flower or a mixture of two colors and/or flower types. I hung them off in a row with hummingbird feeders between them, The birds loved going between the feeders and the flowers.
The water hole is toward the bottom of the pot and large enough to be able to use a hose to fill it up. It uses a wick system that dispenses the water as the soil dries. It is a easy to check the level as well as add the water if needed. I was adding water about once a week or less, a lot better than every couple of days with my other planters.
The Self-Watering Hanging Baskets have flat bottoms which make them capable of being used as a sitting planter as well. This is a nice option to have so you can move them around each season.
Self-Watering Hanging Baskets - The Bad
I would prefer to have the option of having matching Self-Watering Hanging Baskets in different sizes but was only able to find them in one size. While they look nice with one or two flowers types per basket, they aren't large enough for more variety.
The watering hole is large enough to confuse the birds. Oddly, the birds (hummingbirds, chickadees etc.) were really drawn to the hole. I assume they were looking for food or maybe shelter, whatever they were searching for, it kept bringing them back.
When planted and full of water, the Self-Watering Hanging Baskets are quite heavy. I tried to move them around a day after filling them and, they were too heavy. This would not be true for everyone but it might be a consideration for us upper body challenged gardeners.
~~**~~**~~2BUZYS FINAL THOUGHTS~~**~~**~~
I really like the Self-Watering Hanging Baskets and expect to be using them for many seasons. They are well constructed, make watering a breeze and come in five color options. I would like to have the option of more sizes but, can't think of one major problem and/or complaint with these planters. I am giving them 4.4 stars and would recommend them to anyone wanting to plant some hanging baskets.
