The packaging is pretty eye catching and trendy - both a bold yellow/green vibrant color. The wand looks huge and it seems like it would coat the lashes well. It's available in 2 shades - Classic Black and Glam Black.

The wand is very thick and it does coat well. It is super easy to use and the shades of black show up very, very well. The mascara coats well using just a few coats. I do take the company's recommendations and do not let the coats dry but rather layer than one upon each other. The mascara stays really well, but also washes off easily. This mascara has never burned my eyes the way "another" Maybelline (Great Lash) mascara did. It does not flake off and feels really smooth applying.

I must say it was really great stuff. I was loving it just as much as my more expensive brand!

There is just one tiny problem with this mascara, and it's an odd one ... the smell. Some have said this smells like chemicals or something off-putting. To me this mascara smells just like roses! The smell is so strong and intense when I apply it I am instantly reminded of "old lady perfume"! It is quite a potent smell and every time I use it (which is just about daily) I think to myself, "Really, Maybelline? Roses?!"

Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara works so well though, and the smell fades quickly, that I've learned to overlook the smell and possibly in the future I'll come to appreciate the roses smell. I've had the mascara for 2 months now and it's still performing beautifully. I think that's saying a lot -- there are a lot of very ill performing mascaras on the market. I am glad my eye was drawn to this one, it really was a great find!
