The Bottom Line: This is probably more appropriate for a 3-6 month old because of the nipple size. If you're worried about latex exposure, this would be an alternative.

I work in a lab and we've often discussed ways of avoiding becoming allergic to latex since we're always wearing latex gloves. So one of the things we do is swap in nitrile gloves to give everyone a little break from the constant latex. So when we had our youngest son a few weeks ago and I went shopping for new pacifiers, I noticed that there were both silicone and latex pacifiers available and decided to try a set of silicone ones along with the latex. There isn't exactly a lot to review when it comes to pacifiers, but I'll provide as much information as I can.
Let me start with some product information from MAM:
The Mini Sayings Collection, for babies 0-6 months, features sweet sayings and lovable prints for newborns. Air vents allow skin to breathe, while symmetrical nipple ensures the pacifier will always be in a correct position no matter which way it is put in baby's mouth. Offered with silicone nipples in assorted pastel colors.
Features:
* Long Lasting Silicone nipple
* Easy-to-grip button knob
* Ventilated shield
* Two per pack
The ones I purchased (at $5 per pair) also came with a lanyard for button knob pacifiers.
Our son so far has not used the pacifier; he is just at three weeks old and about 10 pounds, so you would think a 0-6 month pacifier would be the right size. The nipple on this pacifier appears to be too big for his mouth though, as it doesn't pop in easily (especially when I compare it to the playtex orthopro for newborns that he uses more regularly). Unlike the flatter playtex pacificer, the MAM pacifier is more bulbous and therefore takes up more space in the mouth. Maybe in another couple of months our son will be big enough that the larger nipple won't be a problem and he'll prefer it to the smaller playtex nipple.
So although it would be nice to reduce the latex exposure, a pacifier only works if the child wants to suck on it:-) Pacifiers are a very child-specific thing, so what we have encountered with our child may not be what you'll encounter with yours, so keep that in mind too. And like I said, maybe a little later on our son will prefer this pacifier over others. Until then though, we'll be sticking with the playtex pacifiers we have around.
