poopsinka's Full Review: Leapfrog Enterprises LFC20305 Fridge Phonics Magne...
The first time I saw FRIDGE PHONICS from Leapfrog , was at my friends house that has a son the same age as mine. They had the toy on their refrigerator, and my boy, who was about 16 months old at the time, really liked it. But he had a plenty of toys at home, so I just quickly forgot about it.
Approximately two months later we visited another couple who had two girls-1 and 3 year old. And my son was just fascinated by the FRIDGE PHONICS that they had in their kitchen too. That time I paid closer attention to it, and my friend said that she got the toy in Wal-Mart, and that it was pretty cheap.
So the next day my husband went to the store and got the toy. The price was 19.99 and I was surprised by that because I didnt expect it to be that high. But now, looking back, I can say that its worth every penny we spent.
THE DESCRIPTION.
The toy consists of a magnetic letter reader that attaches securely on the refrigerator door and 26 easy to grip magnetic letters. The size of the reader is 4H x 4W x 1 D and the letters are about 1,5" long.It requires 3AAA batteries that are included in the package. The reader base is blue and green, and has a cute frog on the left side. The letters are colorful too. The consonants come in three colors- yellow, green and dark-blue, and the vowels are all red. When you insert a letter into a letter reader it sings a little song with a catchy tune that goes like- T says Tuh, and T says Tuh, every letter makes a sound T says Tuh changing according to the letter you put in. There is also a musical note cone on the reader that lets you listen to the ABC song.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.
I think FRIDGE PHONICS is fantastic. I dont have any cons so far. Its probably the best educational toy weve ever purchased. We bought it about four months ago, and my son already knows all the letters of the Alphabet. And he is not even two yet! Im amazed by how quickly he is learning. He started to repeat not just the letters but the sounds too. He has so much fun with it, and I get some time to make dinner while my busy toddler is occupied.
The toy doesnt damage the refrigerator door. I havent seen any scratches so far. And the letters are big enough that they dont get under the refrigerator as our previous set of letters did.
On the website they say that this toy is for kids 24 months to 5 years old but I can totally say that you can use it for an 18-month old. Even if they decide to chew on them, the letters are too big to choke.
Also on the leapfrog.com you can buy a Spanish version of a toy with a 27 letter alphabet set.
