| KMINER's Full Review: Gerber Graduates Banana Cookies |
Though our children often eat whatever we eat, we still find with each child we are picking up certain types of "graduate" food. Either the size is perfect, the flavor, or it's just a nice treat to not have to cut everything down to bite size in our busy day.
One of our 1 year old daughter's favorite treat is Gerber Graduates Banana Cookies. The bite sized cookies are full of real banana flavor and our daughter is thrilled every time she sees them!
Toddler food is designed for children who eat well sitting up and always under supervised conditions. Gerber Graduates keeps this in mind and designs many toddler based foods, Gerber Graduates Banana Cookies being among one of them.
These particular cookies we feel are perfect because they really were designed with a toddler in mind in many ways. They are about a 2 to 3 inch cookie, formed in the shape of a mini-banana, completely with a smiley face! They come in a box with sealed plastic bag inside. The cookies, while formed and not mushy or flakey, are still fairly soft once chewed on. The cookies taste like a cross between a vanilla cookie and a banana muffin - sort of like a vanilla wafer with mashed banana flavoring mixed in.
Serving size is 1 cookie, and these should be used as a treat, or as part of a small meal, and only a couple at a time. They contain 1g of Fat, 10mg Sodium, 6g Carbohydrates (2g Sugars), 10% Iron, 10% Zinc, 10% Calcium and 10% Vitamin E.
These Gerber Graduates Banana Cookies are a wonderful shape and designed to be easy to hold. Often our daughter grabs them in the middle and bites off both ends! They can get a little mushy, as some dissolveable type toddler stuff can, but they really aren't so bad. What is left is easy to clean off skin, hair, tray, and clothing. They are not colored and do not stain.
We mainly use these cookies as a treat and something to keep her occupied while we are making a meal or taking care of something and need her to be seated in her high chair. She has equated the high chair with eating by now and so often simply giving her a toy to try and play with doesn't work. We felt these Gerber Graduates Banana Cookies were good to have for these times as a nice treat to keep her busy. It takes her a few minutes to eat each one, buying us some time. And it works on her motor and eating skills in a safe and relatively non-messy way.
This is typically a product we keep at the house to use, as the box itself doesn't travel well. We have at times tossed a few of these cookies into a ziplock baggie and tossed into her diaper bag and they held up fine. Generally all of the cookies in the packaging are whole.
While not the most wholesome snack on the market, Gerber does a nice job keeping this product similar to others in their Graduate line. It's a product we've continued to purchase over the last few months as our daughter enters the world of being a toddler and a product we'd recommend.
