Pros: Cortaid is the best anti itch cream for poison ivy and oak.
Cons: None it works the best out of all anti itch creams.
The Bottom Line: Cortaid is the best anti itch cream i have ever used. Only one that works this good for me.

Cortaid is one of the few products that work on poison ivy for me.
I am a so called expert on poison ivy. No i am not a doctor but i am allergic to poison ivy. Never was until my early twenties and now i get it often.
I have tried everything one time or another to get rid of poison ivy. Cortaid is the best i have used period. I know every one says calamine works but not for me.
Cortaid is easy to use and works. You put some cortaid on any itch or poison ivy and it stops the itch. If you have poison ivy or oak make sure to pat cortaid on not smear it around. If you rub it on you can spread poison ivy.
Cortaid usually helps stop any itch and will help get rid of poison ivy in a week for me. Most will see improvement in a few days i take longer.
You can buy cortaid at any drug store. No prescription needed. I usually buy 2 tubes at a time. I have hard time getting rid of poison ivy and use a tube or more to get rid of it.
Cortaid takes a long time to dry. I usually cover it but you can let it air dry. Calamine lotion dries hard but cortaid is greasy. It will be absorbed into skin but i usually put more on when it dries. If you have area that must be dry use calamine but any other place use cortaid.
Make sure what ever you do wash all clothes daily if you have poison ivy. Never wash clothes with other clothes. Wash them separate or you can spread poison ivy on them.
Poison ivy and oak are a allergic reaction to oil in the plants. You can try to wash any area that contacted poison ivy right away to try and not get it. This only works if you wash as soon as you can and under 30 minutes.
Sometimes i put cortaid on poison ivy and cover it with a band aid if i have small spot just starting. I know everyone says not to do it but it works for me. It seems to stop the spread of it. You are not suppose to cover poison ivy because it takes longer to dry out but this works for me.
If you have posion ivy try calamine first if you want but i go and buy cortaid because it works the best. Try to not scratch poison ivy or you will spread it even more. Put cortaid on as many times as you can.
I put cortaid on 5 times a day when i have poison ivy. Most people put it on 2 times but 5 works better for me.
