Last year before I became a beer fan my favorite beer was Coors light. Then I came to Epinions and realised that light beer doesn't have the full flavor of regular beer, light beer is all watered down and has less alcohol.
Budweiser always had this neat intrigue about it because my mother drank Bud light and I wanted something stronger. The commercials, while mostly good, didn't have as much of an appealing factor as what it said on the packaging, bottles, and cans. Also the new regal, fancier logo made the beer that much more appealing.
Then there was the fact that my Father and Brother disliked the beers of the American Mega-Breweries, and said that Budweiser and Miller are watered down. So out of rebellion I wanted to drink Budweiser.
Fast forward to 2005, I became a big fan of Epinions member Bruguru's beer reviews and he gave a favorable review of Budweiser (depending on how you interpret it). And it changed my life for the better. I've since become a die-hard Budweiser drinker.
Some beer companies use corn in their brewing process, the brewers of Budweiser don't. But Budweiser still tastes great.
Budweiser contains a cereal grain in it, rice. I had forgotten that rice was a cereal grain until someone pointed it out to me on the comments board. That makes sense seeing that there's Rice Krispies.
Budweiser is a light golden color. It tastes like the pieces of barley you find in soup. The Beechwood aging results in a full and strong flavor when cold. It smells like drinking Alcohol mixed in with Rice and Barley. This beer has 5% alcohol by volume, Miller Genuine Draft has only 4.3%. The higher alcohol content and the better taste of Budweiser are the reason it gets the nod over Miller Genuine Draft.
For me, beer tastes much better when it's ice cold. The warmer it gets the less pleasant it tastes.
I recommend Budweiser and all beer out of the bottle. Beer tastes better out of the bottle. I don't pour it into a glass because you risk the chance of a bad pour, winding up with 90% foam.
Budweiser is to beer what USA Gold's are to cigarettes - An excellent product for a low price.
I have heard about bad buisiness practices in the past by Anheuser-Busch (Makers of Budweiser). That they see to it that Pete's (Makers of Pete's Wicked Ale) and Boston Beer (Makers of Samuel Adam's and Twisted Tea) don't brew in other company's facilities, but Anheuser Busch are guilty of this very same thing. Bruguru mentions in his review of Budweiser. Also, back in 1995 The Teamsters Local 25 Boston supported an Anheuser Busch bottlers strike due to low wages by plant management. The Teamsters encouraged a boycott of Budweiser. But not everyone at Anheuser Busch was like that at the time, nor are they like that today. And I think the people guilty of bad buisiness practices have shaped up, they realize that many drinkers (including micro-brewery staff) like micro-brewery products as much as Budweiser.
