On the site it says I can get a calculator for 62.99 but when I click on the price, it comes up as 89.99 or buy used starting at 69.99. That comes across as false advertisement. Not impressed and will not buy from.

I love using Amazon store. Especially at Christmas time. It is great not to have to leave the house and still get GREAT bargains. The items come in a reasonable amount of time and are always shipped in nice packaging. The fact that they cater items to your liking for gift ideas for yourself and others is also a Great feature that they offer. This is a great place to find gifts for yourself and others!

low price lure, but poor performance

The idea is a great one, but so far, I've had two unsuccessful experiences with purchasing from amazon's marketplace sellers. In both situations, Amazon guarantees the purchase, so I have been refunded. However, amazon won't refund you (even though the failure of the purchase was due to the seller) for 2 to 3 weeks. This is strange, since the charge is made right away. I find this suspicious. Also, watch out when making purchases from "newly launched" sellers...

Amazon market place are UNNECEPTABLE they should not be a company.Where should I Start the customer service is terrible,so was the delivery speed and almost everything else in the company is terrible!I ordered a Pc game and I still have'nt got anything!Not even an email!

Amazon has been quite good to me over the last two years ,It has provided me with competitive prices and great postage costs considering it gets posted half way around the globe.
I would recommend them to anyone who likes dealing with creditable staff and reasonably priced products.Usually find value for money.
I would like that some of the gifts were for Australians as well, but oh well.Hopefully they'll see this and change that.
Then agian i was always told i was a dreamer.
But great site ,good prices.

Disappointed with Amazon when it came to shopping Electronics...

I ordered a Canon G5 camera on March 28th 2004 through Amazon. They promised to ship it by April 2nd and I would get the camera by April 6 - April 8th.
But on April 2nd, I get a mail/ Online Intimation saying the camera would be delivered only by May 26th.
Hence I cancelled my order and ordered it via BuyDigitalDirect.com. I ordered it on April 3rd, but got a mail asking me to contact them cause they had to verify my shipping address and I called them on 4th
Monday morning and I received my camera by April 5th Tuesday morning. Wow !! What more can I ask for?
P.S. This experience is only with Electronic Stuff I ordered via Amazon. I have shopped for Books via Amazon and they are the best. So, use your discretion between Books and Electronics.

Crappy customer service and super saver shipping policy

New Super Saver shipping policy of not sending out materials until 4-6 days after order is placed (even for items listed as "usually ships in 24 hours") equates to poor customer service. There is no reason to delay a shipment in a competitive market just because the company promises to ship the item for free. Barnes and Noble, for example, doesn't "hold" shipments that are free, nor do other retailers, and if I go to a retail store, I can get the product immediately without paying shipping costs and thereby spending as much as I would at Amazon for more costly shipping methods. I'll be happy to start buying books and music elsewhere.

We tried to order a DVD player that they said was in stock, and the ship time was 1 to 2 weeks. Well after 2 weeks they notified us that it would not be available for possible another 2 weeks!!! And it's still listed as IN STOCK on their website. Also as far as Books go if you are looking for the best sellers list yes they have that. If you are looking for some older books, Nope not a chance. Other sites have them. What gives???

Good prices, tricky shipping charges, bad customer service.

I was addicted to Amazon over christmas, got all my shopping done with it. However, their customer service department sucks. I really wouldn't shop with them again unless I was really desperate (I would shop amazon before walmart, though...). Delivery is usually right on, although it once took me over 4 weeks to receive a DVD that I had ordered, so that really irritated me. Also, I ordered a video game and they sent me the Gamecube version instead. Of course I was so excited to get it, cuz it was on backorder for 2 weeks, I started to open it right away, and realized that they had screwed up, I asked their customer service dept what to do about it, and they restated the federal copyright policy and their company policies to me. Didn't help out much, so I am saying that their customer service sucks, actually one of the worst I have ever delt with, and I work customer service in retail.

I have ordered about 14 different items on Amazon Marketplace. Every order that I have made gets delivered fast, and my orders have always been accurate, and have never been damaged. The customer service is helpful and courteous. My overall satisfaction it excellent. I still continue to order off of Amazon. If you have not ordered from Amazon before, then I suggest that you try it.

Great place to find books

Just as one might buy via Half.com, check the seller ratings. Ratings are much harder to acquire at Amazon, and are not as accurate, but will give you a clue if the seller ships late, or if the quality might be much less than expected.
Always read any other information available on the book, as offered by the seller. The book may be a different year, in a different binding, by a different publisher... or, an entirely different book.
Books can be super cheap on Amazon. Not too bad if you want to read a book in mass production.
Sellers, take my advice... If you find your book is worth chump change on the open market, please donate it to a worthy cause in your own neighborhood or ship it to our troops, overseas. Please do not dilute the market, in a battle to list the cheapest book.
Consider it a learning experience, and move on to bigger and better things. Your time is worth more than a quarter an hour-- isn't it?

I buy and sell through Amazon Marketplace and I love the prices. Sometimes a book will be delayed in shipping or sometimes order accuracy is not so accurate, but that it to be expected. No biggie. I typically have a pleasant shopping experience.
If you are one of those people who don't excuse a little error here and there, you would be better off paying full price. But if you have a little patience and see that little errors are worth the money you save.. then Marketplace is definately worth a try.
Overall I am quite happy with Amazon Marketplace and I will continue to keep shopping and selling there.

Amazon.com is fast becoming the central clearing house for on-line ordering from many different stores. In general their product selection, delivery times and order accuracy are excellent. Amazon makes it easy for shoppers by housing name brand merchants under their roof, however, bear in mind that some of the sites Amazon does business for display lesser price tags for the exact same item. Each has their own reduced shipping fees and dollars off deals. When it comes to customer service Amazon has much to learn. If you have a question on a charge or item ordered, be prepared to receive general replies which never answer the question until you ask for someone who reads and comprehends the language, which in my case is English! It is not often that a situation presents itself in which I must contact Amazon, but when it does, my lament is audible.

The Amazon return policy for gifts is a joke. If the gift giver does not check the gift box on the order form then the gift recipient can not return the item and get a "store credit" or something like that. The refund goes to the gift giver.
In todays shopping environment all you should need is a receipt and the item to make a return. Not so with Amazon - and this inflexible and unwritten policy (at the time of ordering - you only find out about this when you try to return the item) has cost them a customer for life. I recommend Overstock.com for better prices, better shipping costs. Barnes and Noble.com is much better for books, cds, etc.
