I always enjoy Amazon. I was a vendor for the marketplace. They have a great system in place. The products are delivered on time and accurate. Customer service is fine unless you really are into 'live people'. I'm computer savvy so that doesn't bug me as much.

I had a great experience with Amazon.com Marketplace. I had to order textbooks for my classes and went to Amazon because I thought it would be cheaper than going to the bookstore. I was right! I managed to save at least $60 on books. The books were delivered within a week and were the right books.
I am very satisfied with my experience with Amazon.com Marketplace.

I was addicted to Amazon over christmas, got all my shopping done with it. However, their customer service department sucks. I really wouldn't shop with them again unless I was really desperate (I would shop amazon before walmart, though...). Delivery is usually right on, although it once took me over 4 weeks to receive a DVD that I had ordered, so that really irritated me. Also, I ordered a video game and they sent me the Gamecube version instead. Of course I was so excited to get it, cuz it was on backorder for 2 weeks, I started to open it right away, and realized that they had screwed up, I asked their customer service dept what to do about it, and they restated the federal copyright policy and their company policies to me. Didn't help out much, so I am saying that their customer service sucks, actually one of the worst I have ever delt with, and I work customer service in retail.

The Amazon return policy for gifts is a joke. If the gift giver does not check the gift box on the order form then the gift recipient can not return the item and get a "store credit" or something like that. The refund goes to the gift giver.

In todays shopping environment all you should need is a receipt and the item to make a return. Not so with Amazon - and this inflexible and unwritten policy (at the time of ordering - you only find out about this when you try to return the item) has cost them a customer for life. I recommend Overstock.com for better prices, better shipping costs. Barnes and Noble.com is much better for books, cds, etc.

This company never shipped the dethatcher and never responded to the several emails I sent. They have terrible/no customer service. I am very unsatisfied.

I love Amazon.com. Almost everything I buy online, either comes from Amazon or a clothes company... When you order something from Amazon, you know that you are not going to get cheated! One problem, is that they do not show their customer service number on the site. To save everyone time, the phone number's are:

I have shopped via Amazon for several years, both their online store and Marketplace and have never had a problem. Granted, my purchases were all books; however, even using Marketplace, I have not encountered any issues and have always had excellent service. As far as I am aware, the "free shipping" on orders over $25 were for qualifying items, which has always been stated on the item as, "this items qualifies for free shipping". Also it is good to remember, free shipping orders are low priority and may not be sent right away, and when they are shipped are usually sent USPS media mail, the cheapest and slowest form of shipping (sometimes up to 2 weeks). There were two times when the books I wanted were out of stock, both at Amazon and Marketplace, my credit card was not charged and they sent follow-up emails requesting if I still wanted the item. All in all, my experience has been excellent with Amazon. I have since joined their program and get my orders in 2 days via UPS.

I have ordered a lot from amazon.com, and have recently been ordering from Amazon Marketplace sellers. My advice – DON’T! At least not from the 3rd party sellers. I have never had a problem ordering from amazon.com directly, but I recently received a defective product from a 3rd party seller and was told I had to pay for shipping to return it before I could get a replacement. I complained to amazon and they basically said too bad – "At this time, sellers do not have the ability to refund an Amazon Marketplace order for more than the original order total (cost of the item + the original shipping fee." If you don’t like to have to pay for defective merchandise, DO NOT order from an Amazon Marketplace seller.

We are ebay sellers, and sell also at half com and alibris, so we are not newbies. amazon's alliance department is foaming at the mouth insane. there are many instances of mis representation, non delivery, and altogether poor management. it's about time people start a boycott of this poorest of the poor e sellers. in our case amazon is responsible for monetary damage in excess of $200 and we are seriously thinking of taking them to court!

Another dissatisfied customer here. I too bought a cell phone from Amazon which came with a $150 rebate.

I never received my rebate. Instead I received a form letter informing me that I had canceled my cell phone service and was therefore not eligible to receive the rebate. There customer service was predatory, and (to me) designed to run a customer around the system with the full intent of not coming through with a rebate.

It was rather fascinating how many ways Amazon was able to duck and refuse granting me my rebate due. Talk about a waste of time. It was maddening, and just to think about all the folks in the chain of Amazon customer support I talked to that are in essence a part of the Amazon scam tactics makes my skin crawl.

Caution with UnbeatableSale

In general, I've found Amazon to be just fine. However, I recently ordered from one of their partners UnbeatableSale and not had very good service.

The details are like many other stories: slow delivery, broken product, slow or no response to email, and no resolution. It often takes days to get a response via email ... often I get no response at all.

I'd also like to point out that this was sent as a gift and UnbeatableSale is requesting that recipient pay for return shipping. Their RMA does not cover shipping costs.

All in all ... something doesn't feel right about them. They have a good track record with other buyers ... but that's when things are working. Take care in doing business with them when things are not.

Amazon reminds me of ebay at least I thought but without the deals the prices are the same as if I went to the store. and when I buy something I get know tracking number so I have no Idea when I will get my item other then when It may be shipped so its a surprise when I get my item. When I emailed the person I never got a response. My girl friend will never shop here bad experiance item was never shipped and coupon didn't help..

One of the great aspects of the Amazon marketplace is the variety of merchandise available; you can find albums, books, movies; all kinds of things you've never heard of. However, this can be a pitfall -- as you navigate the site you may lose track of what it was you originally were looking for. I've got about fifty items in my shopping cart that I "want," but don't have the money for or I'm not sure about. It's very tempting.

That said, I've been very satisfied with about 95% of my Amazon orders, with speedy deliveries, very accurate orders, and good customer service.
