| RACERSIS's Full Review: Bennett Spring State Park |
My family has visited this park since 1993, where my husband took me on the last two days of our honeymoon! I learned to wade, tie, and fish for trout for the first time at Bennett Springs Park. Within 5 minutes of the opening whistle in June, I had a fish on in the upper "fly" waters only area. It was exhilarating and liberating for me -- a woman learning to fish for a new spieces. We worked the waters from the waterfall to the spring the first day. The water was down and we were able to wade with great ease in rented waders (for me). The cost was minimal and the people were fun to share the river with. I was happy to help two handicap children take their fish off in a special "handicap" fishing area and watch them brim with joy of their catch.
The fish are stocked daily according to the amount of tags purchased for that day, and they are of various sizes which makes the challenge interesting. The water is crystal clear and you can see what you are fishing for. There are areas for bait, in a marked area.
We have since taken all of the children and taught them at Bennett Springs, to trout fish. The abundance of fish and fact that no license other than the $5 license per day is required, makes it reasonable for everyone.
There are cabins, camping area, and motels/hotels in the area to rest after a good day of wading the streams and pure enjoyment.
