Missouri's first legislators met in this restored Federal-style row building to reorganize Missouri's territorial government into a state system. Sessions were held June 4, 1821, through Oct. 1, 1826, when the new Capitol in Jefferson City became ready for use. Governmental chambers, two residences, a dry goods store and a carpenter shop have been restored to their appearance between 1820 and 1830. A visitor center with exhibits explains the significance of the site. Guided tours of the site are available for a fee.

Directions: Located on Main Street in St. Charles. |
