Alice Through the Looking Glass
Alice Through the Looking Glass... a confusing mess of a film
by captaind
Pros: ... weird, unfunny, strangely pointless...
Cons: ... er... I've never read the book so maybe it's not the film's fault?!?
Alice through the Looking Glass is... well, just utterly strange.  It features Kate Beckinsale as Alice - or Alice's mum... or Alice's mum turned into a young girl who just happens to be a fully grown woman... I don't know.  I think it tries to be surreal, and ends up simply being weird.  Featuring a host of famous names Ian Holm (Lord of the Rings, The Madness of King George) and Steve Cooghan (Around the World in 80 Days, Night at the Museum) and some admittedly only famous as British TV celebrities such as Penelope Wilton (Ever Decreasing Circles), Geoffrey Palmer (As Time Goes By) and Ian Richardson (House of Cards),  it's basically a series of meetings with weird characters, and... well, that's it.  I think there was probably supposed to be some sort of point to this TV movie, but it's quite probable that no-one will ever figure out what it is.

The earlier BBC adaptation of Alice in Wonderland wasn't perfect, but it was much better than this confusing, uninvolving oddity.

Wanted
Wanted is definitely wanted.
by igwandoNew Member
Pros: Fast paced, sexy, slick movie.
Cons: Could be longer, I wanted more.
I watched Wanted last night on DVD, I needed the pause button to make sure that I missed none of this one.  Wanted is very well done and it is a fast paced "shoot 'em up" movie that kept my attention from beginning to end.  If anyone has trouble with following the story line or character development then you need to pay more attention.  The whole story is threaded out for you and comes full circle to the conclusion.  It rates with Hitman, Bullet proof Monk and other fast shooter movies.  The CGI is seamless and not at all "hokey" or "chintzy".  Angelina Jolie is a knockout and delivers a steely performance. She is a better "hitman" than her portrayal in Mr and Mrs Jones.  Morgan Freeman is great, as usual, believable and authoratative in the "Boss" role.  James McAvoy is well cast and is as intense a leading man as Christian Bale as the main character.
It is futuristic and slightly alien in it's setting, dark and seedy, ancient and ultra modern weaponry mixed as one. I highly recommend this for anyone that likes action movies.

Talk to Me
One of the best Cohen brothers movie
by laurentso
Pros: the screenplay, the actors, the story, the directors, the mood
Cons: too long, a bit boring
Talk to me is the new movie from the Cohen's brother. The last one was there is no country for the old man that was really awasome !

I think Talk to me is a good one but less good : we laugh a lot, there is an interesting story and very good actors, but it's a bit more boring...

Quantum of Solace
Should have extended "Casino Royale" instead.
by mrbeachy
Pros: Flashy with lots of good stunts.Filmed in Haiti,Mexico,Panama,Italy and other interesting locales.
Cons: Far too violent for a James Bond Movie. No gadgets other than a fancy cell-phone.
I went to see "Quantum of Solace" last nite at my local theatre. I was impressed with Daniel Craig as 007 in the previous bond incarnation,"Casino Royale".

It was pretty flashy, with lots of good stunts and fight scenes, but overall I was disappointed. There was far too much violence for a Bond movie, and it was hard to follow the action. I  miss Bond's suaveness and joie de vivre, especially with the ladies.I also miss all the unique gadgets and cars used in previous movies. Other than a fancy cellphone, there was nothing in Bond's arsenal.

Craig's character was so cold and cold-hearted. Yes this movie was about revenge for those who killed Vesper Lynd. But did he have to throw a guy off a roof; his friends dead body into a dumpster and kill so many so violently? I left feeling kind of empty.

Who Killed The Electric Car?
So, why is GM begging Congress for money?
by jican
Pros: A must-see film.
Cons: The painful truth is exposed.
The Saturn Car Company used to be a privately owned company.  When they became profitable, they were bought over by GM.  This independent film tells the story of a pilot program to advance the auto industry to produce zero emissions, conserve gas and oil with electric technology.    This program was was stifled by American auto giants and the oil companies, for greed.

Only a chosen few were allowed to lease this car, the (Saturn) EV1.  Those that leased it, did not want to give it up.  This award winning film tells the unmistakable truth of the "big boys" cover-up.

This is a very compelling film.  My feeling is that Congress must have viewed this film before the hearings this week.  I feel this is a film to be seen by all Americans.

Thank you for reading my review.
