WARNING - ACER Service and Support

I have an Acer Aspire 5630 Notebook Computer. I bought the Acer Advantage two year extended warranty. After the one year warranty expired, I experienced three problems: (1) the webcam failed, (2) the ethernet cable will not click into place, or stay plugged in, (3) the LCD screen looks cracked in the bottom right corner (although there is no broken glass or other sign of damage). About 5% of the screen does not work.

I obtained a Repair Authorization via the website and mailed it in. Two weeks later, I received the unit back. Nothing was repaired. They said that they attempted to call a cell number, but it was busy (??? - I have never received a busy signal when calling a cell phone with voice mail). They wanted $450.00 to repair the LCD. Since they received no response from me, they sent it back as is. They did not repair anything.

I called them. Spoke to a live person within a few minutes. They said that the LCD is not covered by their warranty. They also said that they would not repair the other items (that are covered) until I paid for the LCD to be repaired.

I am completely dissatisfied with Acer's product performance and their lack of service and support. The extended warranty is worthless.

WARNING: If you send a product to Acer for repair, any damage that is not covered by your extended warranty (i.e., LCD) must be paid for BEFORE any warranty work is performed. I choose never to do any more business with a company that would employ such unethical practices.
