Hi I dont think great movies require special effects, nor do I think great works need a comment on suspense factors or how much action there is. If thats the sort of movie you like for yourself, stick to reviewing those for yourself and allow us a more meaningful commentary. thanks PS even requiring a pros and cons summary is in my view skewing the discussion. For you to say "wake up and smell the 1990s technology" if a movie doesnt rate for special effects tells me you think "Casablanca" (the movie) is perhaps meant for the wastebasket. how sad.

Hmmm.

Uhmmm . . .welcome to Epinions.

I believe you are free to leave any and all of them blank. And the 'Pros' and 'Cons' sections can be filled with a meaningless character or two, as some do. Or one could say: 'Read the review.'

Many will agree with you that there needs to be more flexibility in those review fields. And perhaps some/much of the wording needs updated/corrected/made more relevant.

Again, welcome to the site.

why bother to leave blank spaces when you could do without the field altogether.

then of course theres the fact that you cannot skip a response in the areas indicated which is why i made a specific point of illustrating the kinds of data they were insisting on adding.

Hmmm.

All of the drop-down choices can be skipped.

I already suggested a 'work around' for the Pros and Cons sections.

Yes, you have to choose a star rating.
Yes you have to Recommend or not.

Here is a link that will lead to any number of 'feedback' links for the site. Perhaps one of those might be appropriate for providing feedback on this topic directly to the 'powers that be' on Epinions.

In the meantime, I guess we all will have to deal with it as best we can.

P.S. By the way, I, we, look forward to reading your first review here on the site. ...tom...
