Posting book reviews papreback vs. hardback in db

I've tried to search old threads and I found one that addressed different editions of CLASSICS and the merits of reviewing what's in the database even if the edition you read is slightly different. But I cannot find the answer to this question:
I read a paperback novel I want to review. The db already has the HARDBACK only listed according to "view details". It's a fairly new book (paperback late 2005). Covers look different but I'm pretty sure content is the same. As busy as our CLs are, should I just review under the existing HB listing and then mention that what I read is a paperback? Or not mention it at all? Or ask a CL to add the paperback version? Any and all advice appreciated!

Personally, I view them as the same book. I would review it at the link provided and not mention which edition I read.

It drives me up a wall when I search for a book and find the book listed three different times, hardcover, paperback, and large print. I think there should be one listing of the book with three obvious links for buying the different versions of the book.

Thanks, Mark! That's what I sort of feel, but I don't want to do the "wrong" thing.

Anyone else got an opinion?

Agreed. Unless there are actually differences in the text, it only gets one listing. Even audio books are usually combined with paper.

So just review it under the hardback.

Unless the books differ in contents, I say review them as if they were the same binding. The binding doesn't matter unless it does!

How's that for clear?

Thanks so much!

That pretty well settles it, then! When there are multiple listings, I search for the exact one, but when there's only one listing in the db, and it's really the same book, I'll go for it regardless of binding (or printing year) differences. (An exception would be in something that different years would mean vastly different books, like certain encyclopediae or record books, etc.)
Thanks again for your prompt help!

RE: Thanks so much!

Hi there!
Yup, definitely post it regardless of the book format. If you had written to any of the three of us CLs, we'd have told you that we couldn't add a paperback version of a hardcover book.

With SAPs, we usually put in all the formats that the book is available in and sometimes all of them even show up.

'Course I'm being kind of redundant here. You've already gotten excellent advice. :)
