RE: New Category...Dealerships
Quote: meloon I think it would be great to have a separate category labeled Car Dealerships Review.
We could all benefit from knowing which dealerships are those which are good/great to deal with and which ones to stay away from.
Thanks!
Years ago, before my time on Epinions, there was a way to review local businesses, including car dealers. This was not in the forums section of Epinions (where you are now) but in the main review section of Epinions. A big benefit of reviews in the review section is that you earn money from your reviews, and the best reviews have the opportunity to earn the most money.
Unfortunately, the ability to review local businesses disappeared in 2001, I think. Shame... I think it would be very popular.
There are advice topics in the main part of Epinions, including in the Cars section. You could post an essay about your purchase experience in an advice topic called "How to buy a new car," which is at http://www.epinions.com/auto-topic-Autos-Buying_Guides-How_To_Buy_A-New_Car
You may be able to make a few pennies on such an essay... an essay I wrote on how to get better gas mileage has earned a couple dollars and picks up a little bit every month.
As for having a topic here in the forums to discuss car dealers, there's no chance of getting that added, unfortunately. My powers as a moderator are feeble and do not include the ability to add new sub-forums. Only the engineers at Epinions can do that and I know they are busy with much more important stuff than adding a new sub-forum in a backwater part of the site. (I agree that their time is best spent elsewhere -- there's certainly plenty to do.)
In the meantime, look around the site and write a review of your car(s). Read some other reviews and leave a comment or two if the spirit moves you. And when you do get a new car, please come back and review it.
Good luck!
