RE: Thanks for the warnings!!!
Quote: vegas03 LL Bean, a company I've done business with for years, just changed it's cc from Bank of America (good experience there) to Barclays/Juniper Bank. I applied for the card since it would give me free shipping and other perks.
Just to be on the safe side I entered Barclays/Juniper in this site's search. Wow! I'm so glad I did! I have called and tried to cancel my "pending" account. So far I've talked to four customer service specialists who have each told me something different about cancelling an account which has not yet been opened.
I just want to withdraw the application. How difficult should that be? I have a great credit rating and after reading the posts here, I don't want to have anything to do with this financial institution.
I hope I'll be able to stop them before they issue the card. If not, I'll close the account before ever using it.
I did write to LL Bean and suggested that they had made a big mistake partnering with Barclays/Juniper...
Thanks everyone, for your input. You may have saved me a lot of grief and fury.

Juniper is bad business
How I wish I had read these posts prior to accepting this card, there needs to be a class action suit against this company |

Thanks!
I, too, will be shredding my offer that was received today thanks to my wanting to research the company. It seems that this company has more cons than pros. Thanks for making a forum like this! |

REJECTED! No VISA card with L.L. Bean...
Well, at least most of the folks here were able to get a VISA card through Juniper/Barclays. After having been an L.L. Bean VISA card member since 1997, I was just REJECTED by Barclays this past week when I was forced to reapply for a new L.L. Bean VISA after their switch from Bank of America. (I'm still trying to figure out why I didn't have to reapply several years ago when they switched from MBNA to BoA, but anyway...)
Here are the reasons Barclays gave:
• High overall credit card utilization
• Presence of unpaid charged off accounts
• Recent delinquency
Interesting, considering I've only had ONE credit card since 2003 (L.L. Bean VISA) and NEVER carried over a monthly balance. Admittedly, I did have a few delinquent student loan payments back in the late 1990's...right BEFORE L.L. Bean first gave me a credit card! That has been nearly 12 years! RECENT delinquency?? Maybe in geologic time...
I just bought a house with a conventional loan this spring with a fixed interest rate below 6.0%. Apparently my mortgage broker was comfortable with my credit history (which I just checked again yesterday & it's squeaky clean), but Barclays won't give me one lousy credit card?
Before reading these posts, I was aggravated and disappointed with my situation. After reading them, I can close the chapter on my L.L. Bean experience and calmly tell Barclays: Good riddance!
Thanks everyone! |

RE: Sigh...
I pay my bill (in full) by electronic transfer every month. I actually have two credit cards with Barclay Bank, and every dispute I have had in the past year has been decided against me. I called your bank immediately when my identity was phished using false websites... and yet, evidently, I am responsible for whatever charges these people want to place on my card. Now, Barclay bank is telling me I have to cancel this through the phishing company because the phishing company said that I signed up for a subscription service which I did not. I have talked with your company no less than 4 times, to have the charges removed four times, and then readded.
Personally, I need a credit card company (or maybe not... perhaps from now on I will simply use cash) that is actually willing to believe its customers when they call you within minutes of having their identity phished due to a fake website... instead of allowing charge after charge to accrue and then tell me this is my fault because I inadvertantly gave my information to them... well, fine charge me the initial $4.84 that I actually agreed to pay... and give me the rest back that you guys approved after I told you my identity was compromised.
None the less... I will get this resolved, and then I will find another credit card, or not use credit cards again. |

APPLE SHOULD DISOWN JUNIPER!!!!
Any Bank that Cant Think Outside The Box in This Economy Does Not Deserve Your Business!!! This Company Double Dips Every Chance It Gets. Apple would Fare Well To Hook UP With Another Bank that Sports Its Logo and Treats Customers Like APPLE Does!!!! Juniper is Disgusting and stinks as a business entity and rips you off every chance it gets. One year make the previous commenter a novice. Wait n See My Man......You will eventually get F.....d just like Chase. Both are Bush League. Do you know what that means???Below the Belt! |

Thanks for great suggestions
I opened this account when shopping at maternity shop. I was told by shopkeeper that this card is offered by Barkley bank. I thought it is UK based bank and applied. However then I also read JUNIPER bank. Out of curiosity when I searched on google, I found this forum. I am going to close this account immediately.
Thank you all for your time and efforts to post your experience. I am anyways very disappointed with the way credit unions function in this country. This bank will make my experience even worse! |

DISHONEST and Fraudulant
In over 22 years as a credit card holder NOT ONCE have I ever had a late fee, and have consistently paid off cards IN FULL having used them as charge cards rather than credit cards. In the past 6 months Barclay's bank has managed to put on THREE late charges and they will not work with me, will not budge. Note that the total balances were around 12 dollars each! and Automatic for an online charge I was unaware of. Note TOO that I never rec'd a statement in the mail. Barlclay's DENIES this....I am fairly certain they are at this point intentionally fleecing me. In all the years, never ONCE has anything even close to this happened to me. They are UNABLE to provide a contact person NOR A PHONE number for me to resolve this. I have a fax number and an address - that's it. Who honestly thinks someone is going to review anything I send them? DISHONEST - cut your cards and close your Barkclay bank accounts! Trust me - a hard working person with excellent credit. |

COnsumer Credit KNOWS BARKCLAY's!
OK, so I was so angry about being fleeced with late charges - Barklay's has put on my account with balances of a mere approx. 12.00 total for automatic renewals (specifically McAffee for virus clear). They wouldn't work with me, they are adamant that they've sendt me statements on time (NOT TRUE...adn I highly doubt anyone is going thru my mail!) So I decided to contact http://www.doj.state.or.us/finfraud/engexplanation.shtml and GUESS WHAT!? I'm not the only one who has filed similar consumer complaints against Barkclay's!
Please chase these thieves down! REPORT them for doing what they're doing! |

BARCLAYS REPEATED FRAUDS
I was offered this credit card through SpiritAir and was granted a very large credit limit because of my impeccable credit.
A couple of months later I start getting letters from my other cc companies saying that due to delinquencies in my credit, my limit was being reduced. And when I called to check the credit limit of this Barclays card they informed me that I had an 84-day past due balance!!!!
I argued that this was impossible... I NEVER USED THIS CARD. I though fraud, but the card had never been used... how was this possible.
Turns out Barclays was tacking on finances charges but never bothered to send me a statement so I never caught it, therefore I was being charged late fees for not paying the finance charges that didn't even exist!!!
They reported me to the credit bureaus and here I am trying to clean up my otherwise PERFECT credit because of these idiots!!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! |

disappointed
I had the account for almost a year and closed it. They did not post my payments to my account until it was late and then i would get charged a fee. I had nothing but problems with my account through them and would not recommend them to anyone |

Stay Away From Barclays Credit Cards
Barclays Delaware issues cards for the following:
US Airways, AirTran Airways, Frontier Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Carnival Cruise Lines.
If you have one of these cards, you should close your account as soon as possible because sooner or later they are going to cheat you out of your money.
The way they did it to me was to not send my statement. I signed up for paperless statements and each month I receive an e-mail saying my statement is ready. I then go and pay the balance on the card. Twice this year, they did not send the e-mail. Then, when the account gets behind, they disable your online account so you can't check your account status. If you call customer service, the phone system immediately routes you to collections. These collections people don't speak English and are dumb as rocks. They will do nothing for you except badger you about sending money.
If you have a Barclays card, sooner or later you will pay. From reading Eopinions, it appears they have many dirty tricks in their arsenal of greed. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
I have an MBA, an 800 credit score, carry no credit card balances and am obviously not one to abuse credit. I have closed all my accounts that are serviced by Barclays and will always ask in the future if any new cards I am considering are serviced by Barclays.
JUST DON'T GO THERE. |

Juniper Bank is to be Avoided
The first year with Juniper Bank was fine.....then they increased my rate to 24.99%....which increased my finance charge to an outrageous amount.....which pushed my card over it's limit.....which led to a $39 fee......in a month when I had not even charged anything on this card.....even though I always pay BEFORE the due date and I ALWAYS pay MORE than the minimum due.....their response??? "So sorry...can't help you...is the way the computer system is designed." Interesting to note - if I paid only the minimum due this month, it would not be even CLOSE to covering the new finance charge, so I would end up even farther over the limit (while still not using their card) and even more in debt to them. I am searching for a part-time job, just to pay this card off. AVOID THEM - THEY WILL S***W YOU. |

Barclays Juniper DESPICABLE
I have a Barclays Juniper issued card from them with USAirway miles rewards. Recently had a total balance payment put on hold -- you get the idea from others here. I was about to start using this card for monthly purchases and pay the total off each month as I found out they barely add anything additional to their minimum payments -- it's like 90% interest. Well I am not going to use this card period and I am going to ask for a refund of my annual fee as well as contact USAirways with my displeasure and concern. I have another USAirways card, a Signature VISA, thru Bank of America which is really good for minimum automatic payments as they take the payment out on the date the statement comes out so you don't pay interest on interest. In addition, a few years ago I disputed a charge with Barclays Juniper to no avail. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Barclays Juniper, A TRULY DESPICABLE BUSINESS! I cannot believe what they are getting away with! |
