It started out with a bang here in New England. December probably had the best snow in ages, but then in January in Southern New England we had a lot of meltback (though northern New England held on) but it got cold enough that the ski areas managed to make some good snow. As for now - we've had several big rainstorms blow through in the past week or so - but now it's snowing and getting colder and they are saying northern New England got up to a foot of snow. Perhaps there's still some hope for February.

122+ inches of snow - what does that tell you?

On the upside, my middle child is on the Middle School ski team. her first year of competition and I didn't expect much. It has pushed her to increase her speed and seek out a bit more challenging terrain. Just got her a used GS suit off of ebay - that should help her times next season.
