Vacations 2007! :)

The topic Chris started in 2005 for 2006 was wildly successful, so I thought I'd do this again.

Hubby and I are definitely going to the Southern Caribbean in January, and have put a deposit down to go to the Mediterranean in July after I take the bar.

We're a few months from the start of the year, but who's planning on going somewhere exciting in 2007?

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

Nice to see the thread become a tradition Michelle - I completely approve ;o)

Well, we are mulling over an early trip in February to somewhere sunnier than Yorkshire - maybe Lisbon and a wander up to Porto in Portugal, or perhaps a cheapy package flight to Tunisia or somewhere like that.

We have been "good" this year forgoing a long-haul (although it doesn't feel very good!). So we have been discussing getting one together early summer 07. I'm completely torn between east and west - Vietnam (with probably a few days in Bangkok), or somewhere South America (Ecuador sounds good). We're swaying east at the moment, but who knows....

What if you fail ;)

Well the only place I am going is Naples, Fl for my honeymoon in May - which I discussed in this board back when I was booking the trip :) I may or may not go back to Cali in Sept depending on when my cuz's wedding is! Not quite as exciting as you guys but exciting enough for me considering I've never been to Florida!

If I fail, I will be in blissful ignorance of the fact until September, well AFTER I return from my cruise! And then I will be out of a job...

Florida is so great, looking forward to hearing about your trip!

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

No plans here, but an idea or two that may or may not happen. I'm not likely going to be doing much long-distance traveling for the next few years.

During the summer I'm mulling over driving to the West Coast of British Columbia, or flying down to Puerto Vallarta for a free week of accommodation. One of these two should happen.

For February, I'm contemplating driving down to Denver, and heading west to do some skiing around Vail for a day or two. I doubt I'll actually do this, but it is in the idea jar.

Well, we're thinking of moving to Colorado! So we're going to go visit in February. I myself need a sunny tropical vacation at least once a year, but if we decide to move, then this take priority.

But if this move goes through I'm sure we'll do a lot of exploring of the Rockies since we'll be right in the thick of it (Boulder area most likely).

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

We are going to a wedding in L.A if all goes well and hope to combine that with something to do on the West Coast..maybe back to Oregon or up to Washington...Or maybe Vegas....It's been way too long since our last visit...

A short visit back to the Marco Island too, since we seem to have a big family thing happening there every year now..

I've currently got 2 weeks in Argentina penciled in on the calendar (well, maybe a bit darker than "pencil" since I also have the plane tix...)

Ooooh...

That sounds exciting! I would love to spend two weeks anywhere, and Argentina seems so exotic.

We live close to Naples and it's lovely, especially in May. If you can make it to Sanibel/Captiva Islands, you'll be in for a treat! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

As for me, I'm thinking of a weekend to Las Vegas for my husband's 40th birthday in January. That's as far as I've gotten for 2007 travel planning- we'll have to wait and see!

Happy travels to all,
Echo

VEGAS! I so want to go there! My sister turns 21 in a year and a half, and that seems like a perfect place to celebrate :). I will be awaiting your reviews with bated breath!

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

My wife and I are leaving three weeks from today for our big vacation of the year (visit family in Southern California) but we are already thinking about next year.

June: We are heading up to Spokane to get my mother's things out of storage and bring them to Salt Lake. However, we are going to take a week and go up into southern British Columbia and possibly over to Glacier National Park.

Then in the fall we will going to Miami for a business trip and plan to spend a week or so in the area since neither my wife or I have ever been to the soutern part of Florida.

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

This chapter of time is all about the kids... both are very active in dance. So vacations in 2007 will be mini weekend trips to Seattle/Bellevue, a week in San Diego (March), and a week in Vegas (July). Not complaining, as the fellow "dance parents" are a lot of fun to hang out with. :)

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

We live in Highlands Ranch, CO (suburb of Denver) and are planning a spring break trip the last week of March to San Diego. Can anyone advise as to the typical weather at that time of year? Is it too cool to walk the beach with a jacket?
Thanks.

I can't vouch for the "typical" weather (although someone from the area will probably be along to soon) but when we visited in early January last year the weather was great! I wore capris and a t-shirt the day we went to the zoo, and jeans and a sweat shirt the day we went to the beach. We didn't have any rain. Temps ranged from 60-75 during our visit. I hope your weather is a s good as ours was.

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

San Diego is great all year round! My cousins live there and they never seem to get "cold" weather. If Michelle had such great weather in January, I think you should be fine in March.

Everytime we visited it was in the summer, and it did get awfully hot in June and July. So I think March would actually be an excellent time to go!

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

I've finally got a couple of things organised for 2007 - whee! I was starting to get a little twitchy...

First up is a flying visit to Zagreb in Croatia in March. The flights cost a penny each way (before taxes), so there's not too much lost (bar time) even if I hate the place. I've heard it's quite nice, so I'm sure we will do well.

Second, today I was idly wandering round the Swiss Air website (as you do lol) and found a great deal for flights to Moscow in September. A few phone calls to a couple of friends, and it's booked :o)

I'm working on the basis that no-one out there will want to spend a million or two on an obscure poison to bump off a Hotels & Travel Category Lead lol

RE: Vacations 2007! :)

I've hijacked a "free" week in Puerto Vallarta from my parents, so that's one place I'll be going this upcoming summer. I can only reserve a maxiumum of 60 days in advance and it's limited to the summer months, so exactly when remains to be determined. I'm thinking June so that I can beat the worst of the rainy season, yet miss the end of the dry season.

I'll also be going on a little ski vacation to Kimberley to ring in 2008.
