GeoDeck deck problems

Has anyone had a problem with their GeoDeck deck where the product failed (deck boards contracting or even falling apart)? Have you filed a claim with the manufacturer and found out they will not cover the LABOR to remedy problem?! If so, please let me know.......

As of Sept 30th 2007 its even worse....no warantee claims accepted or honored at all. No materials no nothing.
I smell a lawsuit.

RE: GeoDeck deck problems

So do you own the Geodeck material and having problems getting the problem remedied? I am and I am contacting anyone I can find because I have a lawyer looking into a possible class action lawsuit. Let me know and we can exchange information. I'll even call you.....

RE: GeoDeck deck problems

On a similar Geodeck note... Has anyone installed Geodeck tongue and grooved decking and had issues with the cavities filling with water and dripping for weeks after?? I am concerned come winter that the water in the cavities will freeze and expand breaking the cavities and rendering the decking useless. The under part of the decks are not accessible to drill holes in to weep the water.. any idea's?

You could drill a hole all the way through from the top, then plug the top of the hole with a bit of silicone glue. You could even have some 1/4-inch plugs of the decking material made, then drill a 1/4-inch hole all the way through. Use the plug to fill the hole from the top, using some silicone glue to hold it in place.

I've never done this myself but it sounds like it should work.

Good luck!

RE: GeoDeck deck problems

GEO DECK-

I have been a deck installer for 20 years. I used geo deck for 2 years installing @ 75 decks in that time. The Kadant Co. blatantly lied to me about the severity of the problem, and to this day has not been resolved. LDI purchased the name, (why, I have no clue)
But, I have to tell you, in my opinion, that it would be a bad idea to use any hollow composite decking product period.
