I'm a bargain hunter by nature. I have a lot of things I "want", but, I won't buy them until I find a good price on them.
Recently, I wanted to preorder a DVD that I just needed to add to my collection. I was eagerly awaiting its release, and I saw that Deep Discount DVD not only had a super-low price on the DVD, but also free shipping. I didn't even hesitate to order it.
Since it was a movie I was eagerly awaiting, I knew the release date. I also know that with some companies, if you pre-order a DVD, you may end up getting it before it is available in the stores (that's a crap shoot, but, sometimes it works out). So, for days before the official release date, I was hoping to find that my DVD had arrived.
On the release date, and the next day, and the day after that, and so on, I was also anxiously awaiting my DVD's arrival. I began to get nervous. After a week went by, I wrote a quick note to Deep Discount's Customer Service department. I explained that I was excited about the movie, and couldn't wait to get it. I also explained that it had been a week since the release date, and I was wondering when it might arrive.
Now, first of all, I should have been sent some sort of shipping confirmation with a tracking link. Then there would have been no question. But, since I didn't have that luxury, I thought my polite query would get me more information as to the where-abouts of my DVD.
Wrong! I received a snotty reply back. The reply included no tracking information, and told me (in so many words) not to bother complaining to them until my movie was 14 days late. It left me with such an awful feeling.
I expect good service when I order a product. At the very least, I expect polite service. Deep Discount DVD really dropped the ball there.
I finally did get my DVD, much later than promised, and after a snotty return from their customer service department.
They won't be seeing my money again, no matter how cheap their prices are. Their customer service was so poor that no low price could ever make up for it.
Other than their rude customer service, and the fact that my video came late (gee, is that all), I had no problems. My DVD did play in my DVD player, it was new, and it was the full version. Still, the lack of service makes their "good deals" into terrible deals.
