It is no surprise, to me, that for two consistent years, Amazon.com has received a record breaking ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index) scoring in regards to customer satisfaction. Amazon.com was one of the first online merchants that I patronized, and they continue to be one of my favorite online vendors. The selection of merchandise is tremendous, customer service is good, policies and procedures are favorable, shipping is reasonable, and merchandise has been received on time. Confirmation emails are received and customers can track their orders. Overall I feel that this -*****-highly recommended-*****- site is a leader in online shopping.
During the last two Christmas seasons, this online retailer has been a source for gifts that I wasn’t able to locate locally (not that I looked at many stores, with the convenience of online shopping, I am likely to only look at the store I happen to be at). Often I shop at this site because I feel that online shopping is easier than patronizing storefronts.
I have watched Amazon.com change, adding extra features that assist the shopper. Last year they added several Apparel & Accessory partners, making it convenient to patronize merchants such as Nordstrom, Gap, Eddie Bauer, Foot Locker, GUESS?, Old Navy, and more. Previously, Amazon.com linked with Toysrus.com, allowing customers to purchase Toysrus merchandise, with the splendid attention to customer service that Amazon offers.
Additionally a majority of the products have consumer reviews in place. I have found that these are especially helpful with regard to book purchases, as the reviews are often concise, allowing the shopper to quickly read multiple viewpoints. In addition to the consumer opinions, there are professional reviews in place. While those serve a point, I prefer the consumer analysis.
Excellent Assortment
This merchant offers an assortment of items including books, music, DVD’s, magazine subscriptions, electronics, office products, software, kids & family merchandise, kitchen tools & small appliances, beauty, and more. A couple years ago, Amazon.com offered the best price when I ordered a Playstation for my husband. When I needed to purchase a breadmaker for a relative, who lives out of town, this site had the best price. I knew that I could trust that the gift would be delivered. Typically the majority of my purchases from Amazon.com are books, CD’s, videos, DVD’s, and toys.
Extras
In addition to shopping features, Amazon.com offers personal notification alerts, allowing you to be informed of the latest releases by favorite authors, music artists, and actors. They also have notification service for upcoming birthdays and anniversaries.
Shipping
Customers receive Free Super Saver Shipping on qualifying orders of $39 or more. Standard shipping charges vary, depending on merchandise ordered. For example when I order CD’s, I am charged .99 shipping per CD, with a minimum charge of $1.99 for shipping. Amazon.com states that standard delivery will take 3 to 7 business days, most of my orders have been received in four days. In addition to standard shipping, they also offer two-day and one-day shipping. Prices vary, but my observation has been that the shipping handling costs are low or average.
Need? or Want?
The only complaint that I have with regard to Amazon.com is that I frequently spend more than I intended, or even end up purchasing items, when I intended on browsing. This is especially true with regard to books and CD’s. Part of the reasoning for this is because the ‘recommended’ purchases offered by Amazon.com are enticing, and often accurate. Those blurbs of advertisement intrigue me, leading me to seek more information with regard to the product displayed, and they often lead to a purchase. Although I stated this as a complaint, in reality I like the feature, and I am SHOPPING PROOF that it works.
Go For Gold
An additional culprit for sporadic purchases are the Gold Box™ offers. Ten offers are available daily, this list is individualized, and firm rules apply.
“There is no obligation for you to buy any Gold Box offer.”
“You can select from up to 10 offers per day.”
“Offers consist of savings coupons good for only 60 minutes.”
“If you pass up an offer, it will immediately expire.”
“You can only make one Gold Box purchase every 24 hours.”
Although this program offers benefit I would like to see Amazon.com change to allowing immediate viewing of all 10 offers, thus letting us pick the ‘one’ that is most appealing. To be honest, there are times I would have made a purchase, if I knew in advance that the following offers were of no interest.

In closing, I recommend this trustworthy merchant and will continue to patronize them. There are additional opportunities at Amazon.com, I recommend going to the site, establishing an account, and browsing. You might like the marketplace, auctions, and various additional options available. Be forewarned, with the numerous payment options, delivery choices, and massive merchandise offering, you are likely to complete a purchase. Based on my experience, you will receive good customer service, quality merchandise, and timely delivery from Amazon.com.
