| melissasrn's Full Review: Carter's® Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleeper ... |
Once fall finally began a few weeks ago and the weather became noticeably cooler outside, it was time to go through my two year old son's winter inventory of clothing and sleepwear to see what fit and what didn't. Most of his size 2T sleepers were just too snug to fit comfortably anymore and he only had one 3T sleeper left over from last year he could now still wear. So it was time to go shopping for larger cool weather clothing, and I knew exactly what kind of sleepwear I was going to purchase for my toddler. Two piece pajama sets aren't my favorite for a variety of reasons (two are the exposed feet and belly, which let cool air in), so my first choice are the warm, fuzzy one piece blanket sleepers. And the brand I always search for first when looking for high quality sleepwear items for my son is Carter's, who have outfitted infants and toddlers for well over 100 years now. My final choice were some of these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers, and I couldn't be more happier with my purchase. Read on to find out why.
~~~The Sleepwear~~~
According to the product advertising found at www.jcpenney.com, these cute Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers will keep your busy toddler warm this winter. 100% polyester fleece with boy-friendly appliques. Zip closure. Imported of domestic fabric. This fuzzy fleece sleepwear for toddler boys is very soft to the touch and comes in several different colors choices (sleepers for infant boys and well as toddler and infant girls are also available). For greatest safety, children's sleepwear should be snug fitting or flame resistant (which these sleepers are). We have purchased several other colors and patterns in the past (they seem to change every year) in smaller sizes, but our most current purchase includes a light gray sleeper with blue trim and a tractor sewed onto the left chest area (the one pictured at www.jcpenney.com) as well as a bright red sleeper with a teddy bear applique found in the same place. Other choices are available as well, including a dark green sleeper with a dinosaur applique as well as one with a a different tractor print. These warm one piece Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers feature non-skid soles to keep those toes toasty and warm, cuffed arm holes, and a zipper front that goes half way down the left leg for easy dressing.
~~~Sizing Information~~~
Currently, these Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers may be purchased in three different sizes to accommodate your growing child. Chubbier children may want to go up one size as this sleepwear is snug through the waist. These sizes include:
2T: 26-29 pounds (35 inches tall)
3T: 30-34 pounds (37 inches tall)
4T: 35-38 pounds (40 inches tall)
My two year old son now weighs approximately 32 pounds, so the 3T size fits perfectly. Only I did stock up on a few of the 4T size that he'll probably grow into later this year and may even still fit when next fall rolls around as well. I have noticed the 5T size is becoming quite popular lately, but as far as I can tell, these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers only go through a 4T.
~~~Price & Availability~~~
Currently, these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers may be purchased at most major clothing department stores such as JCPenney, Sears, Proffitt's, Belk and many others for around $16 each regular retail price. My advice is to wait for sales as these high quality sleepers can be purchased easily for much less. For example, recently JCPenney was having it's 100th Anniversary sale, so these were "buy one at regular price and get the second for just $1". So I ended up paying $17 for TWO sleepers (or $8.50 each). Now THAT was a good deal, I thought! Many other stores often offer as much as 25% to 30% off regular prices during special sales, so be on the lookout, take advantage, and stock up. ~~~Carter's Quality~~~
A leader in premium children's apparel for over 135 years now, Carter's has produced high quality layette items, including bedding, play clothes, and sleepwear such as these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers for many generations. Even though this brand is more expensive in price than many lines featured in most discount stores, feel confident purchasing high quality traditional Carter's layette and children's items as they will last much longer wash after wash than many of the cheaper brands do. Hold on to them to use again and again with subsequent children or sale them to someone in need as the resale value of this brand is high. I have been purchasing these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers in varying prints and colors for three winter seasons now and many of his outgrown Carter's sleepwear is still in excellent condition. Right now they are all packed away as I just can't bear to part with them yet even though he's our third and most likely last baby we'll have.
~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
Keep your toddler warm this winter and stock up on these Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers today. Their attractive and high quality, durable design will last wash after wash without shrinking in size. Regular two piece pajama sets leave the feet exposed, so these blanket sleepers solve the problem of frozen feet in children that won't stay covered up at night or who refuse to wear socks in the house (as mine does!). The only con would be the zipper closure makes this sleepwear very easy to remove by inquisitive toddlers, so dressing them overnight with a one-piece "onesie" underneath as well just might be a smart idea to at least keep the diaper in place. These Carter's Toddler Boy Fleece Footed Sleepers may be a bit more expensive in price than those generic brand blanket sleepers found at discount stores such as Wal-Mart, but they are definitely worth the extra expense. Find them on sale, however, and the price can be very affordable, especially for the high quality sleepwear you'll purchase in return. Good luck and stay warm this winter :-)
Carter's: "I'm not tired. My eyes just need a rest."
Carter's sleepwear is flame resistant and meets the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission sleepwear requirements.
