If you haven't had the pleasure yet of shopping at Drugstore.com, I highly recommend that you hop on over and give it a try. They offer all kinds of things you'll need to buy anyway as well as an impressive selection of salon type products that are normally not carried in drugstores. So while you're picking up some toothpaste and deodorant, you can grab items from makers like Philosophy and Joico to stock your shelves.
What's It Like To Shop At Drugstore.com?
In one word, easy!
To expand a little, even first time shoppers should do well here. Items can be found both by selecting a main category and narrowing down your search, or by a very effective search box, that can find things by both a product's name, or description.
The inviting main page also offers a tantalizing array of choices to visit. They show items in top sellers, suggestions for upcoming holidays (currently Mother's Day), and a wide array of current promotions. First time shoppers get free shipping on purchases of $10.00 or more.
Once an item is selected, a full description of size, ingredients, directions and labeling are shown, so you know exactly what you're getting just as if you were looking at the product in your hands. Adding to your shopping cart is a snap as well. The detail page will show current status of the item (in stock or not) and one click adds it to your cart.
From there you may continue to shop (which seems to be a problem for me) or checkout.
Checking Out-
New customers will need to take a few minutes to open an account with e-mail address, billing and shipping information and a password. Upon returning for future purchases this is all stored, and checking out is speedy!
Shipping-
Items can be shipped to you or someone else if you wish.
I love the shipping charges at Drugstore.com. Shipping is calculated by amount, and is $5.49 for orders up to $249.99. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend shopping here for an item or two, but if you are stocking up, then it can't be beat.
Shipping is via UPS, and upgrades for speedier delivery are available for extra charges. UPS ground is not the quickest means of delivery, so if you are in a big hurry, hit your neighborhood drugstore.
Customer Service-
Drugstore.com gets high marks from me for customer service. Their website sets the tone, with easily accessible information like customer service numbers, a large F.A.Q (frequently asked questions) section to answer any questions you may have, and a generous return policy if you happen to be unsatisfied.
Although I have never had to use it, Drugstore.com has a unique policy of having you contact a representative by e-mail to discuss your problem/complaint. They may issue credit without having to have you return the items.
Care Taken With My Items!
I am always happy with the condition of my items from Drugstore.com. They have come a long way from their start-up days in taking good care. My latest order of products all came shrink wrapped to prevent leakage, nestled in amongst air pillows and topped off with both a free gift and two samples. I love, love to see my UPS man when I know it's a Drugstore.com order. It's like Christmas.
