Amazon not as amazing!

I remember a time when amazon.com was a great place to buy books, music, etc. at amazing discounted prices with great shipping costs, and delivery that was better than on time!!
Now, their prices are pretty much comparative to other retailers like barnes and nobles (.com) which doesn't bother me as much but their delivery time has dropped to disappointing that I'd rather go to a barnes and nobles and buy the book!! The money you save on shipping is less than taxes (most of the time) especially if you buy from barnes and noble.com (if you're from new york city).
I usually select standard shipping but now, amazon.com offers free shipping but you have to buy at least $99 or $100 worth of stuff (not a problem, i wait until there are enough books i want that can make up that amount); and that doesn't apply to everything sold at amazon.com. the horrid thing about the free shipping with every $100 spent (applicable items only) is that shipping and handling takes about TWO WEEKS!! i don't understand what it is that they need to do for two weeks to get my items out. it's not like the items in my "shopping cart" takes more than 24 hours to obtain! so what gives!! i've not tried selecting other methods of shipping but i would assume that i would probably get my items faster because i paid for shipping. if your intentions are to save a few bucks from shipping, you're wasting a lot of time! so unless you're not in a hurry to get your books, music, etc from amazon.com, then free shipping would be the way to go.
