With two kids that appear to be taking after my husband and turning into Amazons, it seems I am always shopping for something to replace what they've outgrown. Thankfully for my family budget Old Navy has been a godsend for stocking up on stylish essentials at a bargain price.
Never been to Old Navy before?
They are an affiliate of Gap that sells clothing for Men, Women, Children, Infants, Maternity, and a few pet items too. They also sell some shoes and accessories as well. Prices are much lower than the Gap although quality is comparable. Styles seem to run towards the trendy, but not too out there for most folks. Now as much as I enjoy Old Navy to stock up on jeans and tee's for the kids, I can not tolerate our local store. It's in a terribly crowded mall location where I can never find a spot, and if for some reason I manage to park that LOUD music will send me scurrying right back in no time. So ever since Old Navy opened it's online site, I've been clicking away from home. Ah, the answer to my prayers, let's shove off and take a quick look at the ship-shape shopping at Old Navy.com.
The Website-
You can tell that Old Navy has been selling online for some time, they have worked out all the kinks in their website. The home page offers easy links to all of the departments as well as feature links to the Item Of The Week (a specially priced sale item), any contest they're running and prominent links to customer service and your account. Even a new online shopper will have an easy time here finding what they need.
Once you've picked a category such as Women's, all of the available options pop up, i.e. pants, tee's, etc. After selecting a specific section you will see all of the offerings shown as thumbnails with brief descriptions and price. To get more detail simply click on the photo and you will have all the specifications you might need as well as a handy recommendation feature that shows a photo of a coordinating item.
Adding items to your cart is as simple as deciding on color, size and quantity. Your cart remains at the top of the page with an item tally on it so you can see how much damadge you've done as you go.
Checking Out-
Nothing out of the ordinary here, new customers will create an account, and old users will log in. It only takes a moment to input name, address, shipping and billing information and you'll be done. Immediate e-mail confirmation is sent for your records.
Payment
You may pay for your Old Navy order with Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, JCB and Discover. Also available is Old Navy's very own charge card that you can apply for online. Do so at your own risk, although you will receive a 10% discount on your first order. =)
Shipping-
Old Navy begins shipping charges at $5.95 an order, so avoid them if you only have one item to pick up. The shipping prices go up incrementally based on the total of merchandise you purchase, topping out at $14.95 for orders over $200.01. They do offer express delivery for an extra fee should you need it. An e-mail confirmation comes once your order has been placed as well as shipped. The shipping notice contains a tracking number for your shipment, and tracking can be done on site as well after logging into your account. The website states that shipping may be done via USPS or FedEx, although every one of my orders has been USPS. The orders come securely wrapped in cardboad boxes.
-No international shipping currently.
Customer Service-
I can honestly say that I have never had need to use Old Navy's customer service, and I have placed in excess of 20 orders here. How do they satisfy me? Well they make finding the answers to any questions I have easy to find on the website for one. I'll also mention a few other handy things to know.
-Returns should you need to make them can be done at a local store less shipping, or returned via mail less shipping unless the item is an exchange then no shipping is charged!
-Gift Cards can be both bought and used online. You may also check your balance online as well.
-Size charts are conveniently available at each items detail page. I have also found the sizing of Old Navy to run quite true once you've found the proper size for you.
-Gift wrap and message are available at checkout for a fee as well. I love this feature for quick gift giving.

Final Thoughts
If you've never tried online shopping before this is a good site to jump in and get you feet wet at. If you're a seasoned veteran I think you'll find everything your looking for with ease and prompt service.
Anchors away!
