GREAT PRICES
Booksamillion consistently provides the lowest prices of any online or brick-and-mortar bookstore. The store sells books, magazines, movies, music and more at prices frequently lower than sale prices at other locations. Plus, Booksamillion will compare and show you the prices of their competitors using the pricefarmer.com technology, so you always know that you’re getting a great deal. Recently, I was able to find a book offered at other retailers for $75 for only $27 at Booksamillion. That is a savings of almost $50!
You can also save on sales tax if you are not a resident of Alabama. Booksamillion only charges a sales tax to residents of Alabama (5% or 8% in Florence, AL).
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICES
BAMM.com also offers excellent customer service. The websites customer service line is clearly posted on every web page directly below the BAMM logo. Each time that I have had a need to call them, I have never been forced to wait on hold. The customer service representatives are also very accommodating. It seems that they are trained to solve every problem a customer may have, instead of refusing service like many other companies.
FLEXIBLE PAYMENT METHODS
Booksamillion allows their customer to submit payment by Visa, American Express, MasterCard, and Discover, but they also accept checks and money orders. The one time that I needed to pay by check was remarkably uncomplicated. The transaction went as smoothly as if I were paying by credit card.
FAST LOW COST SHIPPING
Booksamillion also seems to process their orders faster than all of the other retailers I’ve ordered from. Items that I have shipped by standard ground are frequently received within three to four days. This may be due to the fact that I live in Atlanta, which is only one state from the Booksamillion distribution center in Alabama, but I have never received packages from Amazon or Barnes & Noble in this time frame. Shipping rates are also inexpensive and Booksamillion will frequently offer free shipping. Standard Ground rates are $2.99 plus $0.99 per item. Many retailers will charge a premium for heavier items; Booksamillion does not, their shipping rates remains standard. They have also always matched the specials offered by other online retailers.
RETURNS
This is the only downfall to Booksamillion; they will not allow you to return books to their retail locations. All returns must be shipped back to BAMM. Returning items is simple and uncomplicated, but it would be a lot easier to drive to your local Booksamillion store.
MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS ADVANTAGES
Join their discount club! Joining the discount club will qualify you for a 10% discount on all purchases made online, at the retail stores, and at all Joe Muggs locations. And it only costs $5 per year. What a deal!!! Barnes and Noble charges a whopping $25 for only a 5% discount. The BAMM program will usually pay for itself in just one purchase. How can you go wrong?
HELPFUL HINT
If your one-year membership expires, do not renew the membership until you decide to make your next purchase.
IN CLOSING
Overall, I don’t see how Booksamillion can stay in business offering the prices that they do, but I’ll take advantage of them while they are still around. Make sure you check the BAMM website before making any purchase online. Chances are you can save money with this wonderful store. Otherwise, you’ll just be throwing money and time down the drain.
