After 5 years as a customer I have nothing but praise for this company. The company continues to find ways of improving the navigation, usability and value of the site as THE e-commerce destination on the Web. New features during the past few years such as 'Wish Lists,' '1-Click Ordering' and 'Purchase Circles' show that Amazon.com will continue to be an innovator in the e-commerce arena.
I was somewhat dismayed during 2000 and early 2001 as Amazon moved into areas that were not a good fit with the rest of its product mix and business operations (e.g. the sale of industrial size/quality tools?!?), but it seems that the company has refocused itself on its core competencies of delivering low to mid-dollar amount products at competitive prices while maintaining a personalized shopping experience that is second to none.
Personally, I have purchased everything from books, CDs, digital cameras, personal digital assistants, toys, computer software, and DVDs at Amazon. I have easily spent over $5,000 on merchandise (probably 30+ different orders over five years) and I can honestly say that I have yet to have anything less than a completely satisfying experience.
I actually find it a bit ironic/amusing to be evaluating Amazon.com on this site. Until this week (when I discovered epinions.com) - Amazon.com was one of my two primary destinations for product reviews for a wide array of items I would consider purchasing (the other being www.consumerreports.org).
