J. C. Penney Saved the Day!

The Bottom Line When in need of a home project don't be afraid to tackle whatever needs to be done. I did it my way and J. C. Penney came through.
Since I moved into my home here in Texas I have done some remodeling to suit my life style but one thing that needed to be changed were the roller shades on all my windows. Most were still OK but several were coming apart from age. The home was built in 1987 and I am sure these are still the same roller shades.
As is usually when I am in the need to make some changes I surf the net to find out what is available. I was looking for a room darkening vinyl roller shade with scalloped fringe in an ivory color. Several different web sites popped up and I started checking price and if the cut to fit roller shade cost more to have the scalloped fringe bottom. This took me several different times as I knew my next step was to measure all my windows. My roller shades were mounted on the inside of the window frame.
After checking and measuring two or three times I thought I had them all correct. I have eleven windows of different sizes from small bathroom to large bedroom windows. When I run across the J. C. Penney site their web site was easy to figure out just what I wanted and the price was great as there was a special sale going on.
This web site also had a special section you could check out on how to measure correctly as for inside or outside mountings. I had a question as to how much I would have to allow from the inside mounting and the measurement of the shade. They also had a place where you could email these questions to their customer service. Within a couple days they answered back as to how much to allow and suggested using a steel tape measure to get all measurements exactly.
This time I used that steel tape measure with my pen and pad wrote down each measurement for each window and in which room to the exact number. Then I was ready to place the order on line. They had different prices for different measurements of your window so I could include those that fell in that particular measurement. It seemed that I had only four windows that had the same measurement and two others the same. The rest were all singles. I made sure I entered all exactly as I had recorded with all shades the same color. There also was an extra special deal if you ordered on Presidents Day and I also got that savings.
I was notified that my order was received and that they would arrive within a week. I was surprised one day when I came home from golfing my shades were at my front door. This was a Friday and had to put up my bathroom one right away to see if my measurements were exact. Everything worked great and I had that new shade up in five minutes. I wasn’t ready to tackle all the other at that time and would wait until the later.
The next day on Saturday with my little step ladder and scissors ready to open all the other roller shades. Everything went perfect even some of the bigger one I handled with ease. The only one that caused me trouble was in my laundry room as someone had switched the mounting places and that curtain was hung backwards. I used my power screw driver and changed those mounting plates and hung up my last room darkening roller shades. The all look wonderful and clean and my job was done within an hour and a half. Thanks to their customer service in explaining the correct measurements that I did not have one faulty window shade with a mistaken measurement. I was extremely satisfied with this on line purchase, good service, good price and J. C. Penney came through with under $200.00 for all my windows.
This tells me that J. C. Penney is changing its ways, as I was put off from buying anything from them on line some years ago and refused ever to check them out. Now I will have to change my thinking and try them again, as this order could not have been easier. DON’T BE AFRAID TO TACKLE A PROJECT YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY TIME!!
