I have been a dedicated Lands End catalog shopper for about 10 years now, so it was my pleasure to initiate my online shopping experience at their site. From my catalog purchases, I knew I could expect attention to detail and superior customer service to accompany any shopping I would choose to do there. Over the last 3 years I have probably made 20 or more purchases there and NEVER had a problem or disappointment.

What Is Lands End?-
I've heard that there are some of you folks lucky enough to have a Lands End outlet located near you, but for the rest of us, we must rely on the catalog or online website for their merchandise. Lands End sells merchandise for Men, Women, Children, Layette, Bedding, Luggage, and a few seasonal decorations as well. They offer a variety of sizes from petites to plus, from tall to short and offer hemming and monogramming to perfect your wardrobe. Their offerings tend to run on the preppy to business casual side of dressing. They offer lots of flannel, chinos, polos and basics in a wide array of colors. So in other words if you are apt to dress in the more "classic" style you will be in preppy-Nirvana, and if you tend to like edgier trends, you'd be better off skipping Lands End. You won't find any wild colors or chopped up denim here. So if your still with me, hang on and I'll tell you a little about this wonderfully put together site.

The Layout/Navigation-
If your about to take your first visit to LandsEnd.com don't be frightened they've set up their site so that options for help and products abound. The welcome page offers the choices of the main store, Overstocks (supremely good deals on closeouts, and imperfects) and the corporate site. The customer service number is prominently featured (pay attention Amazon) as well as a dual search option, to search by catalog item number or product type (i.e. men's pants). The individual departments are laid out with a tab-style format at the top of the page for you. Once you've found your category (i.e. Women's) you then pick from a sub-category menu and continue to narrow down your search. Once you've decided on a product to view, ample product information is given to help. Also available on every product's detail page are links to size charts and live customer service help. You also have the option to try the product on your own virtual model (created with your measurements).
Once you've selected your items, always the hardest part of my shopping experience at LandsEnd you're ready for checking out.

Payment and Shipping-
Checking out is a very simple process that requires name, address, phone number and e-mail. You may pay be either Visa, MC, AMEX, Discover, and Lands End gift certificates. Shipping is done by either UPS or USPS with rush delivery options available for an extra charge. Shipping charges are reasonable with no extra handling fees that have become popular with online merchants. Once you've ordered confirmation is immediately available for printing as well as e-mailed to you promptly.

Customer Service-
The customer service is first rate here with all of the little extras tended to. Options for hemming, monogramming, and gift boxing are all available. Pair this with an awesome 100% satisfaction guarantee and you'll be impressed. I've only had to use the return option once, and I was totally pleased. I had a pair of knit pants that began running after a few washes, Lands End shipped out a new pair before I hadn't even sent the defective pair back to them.
Their products may be on the pricey side, but the quality can't be beat, and I have many items that are years old and still look beautiful.

Worth Mentioning-
Honestly this site has so many features I've probably forgotten a few, but there are a few more that bear mentioning that make this site a 5-star shopping experience.
--International shoppers may shop in their home language. Land End currently offers shoppers in Japan, France, Italy, and Germany same language shops. I hope this is a trend for the oft-forgotten international consumers.
--Similar to higher end department stores, you may register for your own personal shopper to recommend products you might like.
--When shopping, be sure to go through a online rewards program that rebates or credits points for your purchase. MyPoints, Milesource and UPromise are just a few I know of.

Final Thoughts-
If you haven't given Land End a try yet, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes this style of clothing. Their customer service is bar none, the best I've encountered online and the site is chock full of the little extras that make me feel like I'm shopping at an exclusive department store instead of clicking away in my jammies.
