| sailfamily's Full Review: Camp Four Winds Westward Ho |
This was my son's first time at Four Winds, however he has been attending camps for the past 4 years. He is a very easy-going kid, finds fun in everything, complains little, and has had good experiences at all his past camps. Unfortunately, camp Four Winds was not a good experience for him. We will not be sending him back next summer, and unfortunately cannot recommend this camp to others. Most of our concerns revolve around his counselor and several other staff members, who we feel exercised very poor judgement in talk and behavior with our son and his cabin mates. He was not allowed to call us from camp when he felt uncomfortable in a certain (and in our minds serious) situation which is troublesome for us. We also felt that the activities were limited and camp took place at a very fast-paced, regimented schedule. "Too much like school" our son says.
Tuition and transportation to and from camp amounted to nearly $5,000 for a four week stay. For many families this is not a concern, however we are not wealthy and found this to be too expensive for the experience this camp provides. Not everything was bad, however our sons experience was too negative for us to give this camp a positive review.
