What can one say about Amazon.com? They are a firmly established and trustworthy online store that continue to prove themselves during a time when other online stores seem to be disappearing with the blink of an eye.
Amazon truly has something or everyone, and despite their growth into areas beyond their original features, they remain a company that merits my absolute trust and satisfaction.
I shop at Amazon probably more than any other online store, purchasing products ranging from a Playstation 2 system to a cdrom burner, videos, games and books. They usually have coupons that come in handy, several of the pay programs that I use offer Amazon gift certificates as rewards, and they often have great rebates on certain products.
I started using Amazon when they were more focused on selling books, and I have continued to use them as they've expanded into selling other products. Their Friday only specials are great, but more than that they always seem to have what I'm looking for, especially in the way of electronics, music, books and video games.
I have only had to return one product, which was a device that was supposed to work with Playstation 2. It didn't work, and their customer support was fantastic in helping me return the product and crediting my charge card. But, the very fact that I was able to purchase a PS2 system though Amazon, when everyone else was sold out, was very special to me and to my son who was practically foaming a the mouth to get the system!
I find the customer reviews of products especially helpful when looking at products I am not that familiar with. Sometimes what looks like the best product based on the specs, may have glitches that are pointed out in these reviews. So, I always make a point of reading the reviews, and weighing them carefully, since I realize that everyone is not going to be happy with everything. On the whole, I have been extremely happy with the purchase I have made.
The only drawback I have found, which really is not a major thing, is that it seems to take longer than it should to get video games that are pre-ordered. The fact that you can pre-order them is great, but by the time we actually get them, they've been available at stores for a good two to three weeks. We live in a fairly remote area, though, and so we will continue to pre-order mainly because we don't have that many stores nearby.
I also love that they will mail orders to a different address than the billing/ordering address. This has made it convenient and easy to purchase gifts and have them mailed directly to the recipient. My last purchase was a wonderful cd/cassette/radio for my father's birthday. The customer reviews on the product were excellent, and after listening to the sound quality, I could not agree more. With a discount coupon, and two gift certificates, I ended up paying less than $10 for the system! I love Amazon!
