| newtownbeans's Full Review: Timex T5H471 ( ) : Quartz Movement Watch for Women |
I purchased this watch for my granddaughter who is 9 years old and she absolutely loves it. She previously owned another Ironman watch which was not made by Timex, but it had a standard buckle type strap and it was difficult for her to put it on and adjust it properly. Also the buttons were very prominent and they were always being accidentally depressed causing the settings to be changed. This Timex has a nylon fast-wrap strap with Velcro which allows her to easily put it on and adjust it. Also, the buttons are designed to prevent them from easily being activated by accident.
The watch has a quartz movement with a digital display. It is an Ironman Triathlon chronograph with a silver-tone bezel and set with screw accents and black selector buttons. There is a 12/24 time display, date display with MM-DD or DD.MM format, 3 time zones, optional hourly chime, 100-hour chronograph with memory for 30 laps/splits, 24-hour countdown timer, occasion reminders, 3 daily/weekday/ weekend alarms with 5-minute backup, customizable mode set, Indiglo night-light with Night-Mode feature, FLIX system for activation of night light with flick of wrist, stainless steel caseback and 100 meter water resistant.
This is a midsize watch which can be worn by women or young girls. Setting is relatively easy with forward/ backward entries. The occasion mode has 15 preset occasions. The manufacturer states that the battery has a 6 year life. The warranty is 1 year, but you can extend this warranty for 4 additional years for $5. by calling a toll-free number at Timex. The accompanying instructions are clear and concise and make settings easy to follow. The watch has a retail price of $50., but I paid $25. at JC Penny using a 40% store discount and a $10. coupon.
This is a great watch for kids because it is easy to set and read and it has many functions usually found on more expensive watches. It is also great for a child's small wrist which make it almost impossible to find an expansion band to fit. The fast-wrap Velcro strap makes it very easy for a child to put on and take off, compared to a standard buckle type strap. The price is good and the extended warranty is well worth the extra $5.
