Pros: Eye-catching and easy to read, a little piece of functional design for your wrist
Cons: Band-trimming fraught with potential for sadness; no backlight
The Bottom Line: Great piece of functional design for which you make a few small sacrifices in features, but if a little eye candy on your wrist brightens your day, highly recommended.

| too_dope's Full Review: Fossil S+Arck Watch O Ring Digi Grey PH1086 |
I have a penchant for off-kilter watches and had been interested in a few of the models designed by Starck for Fossil. This one really caught my eye, though, and I have since been very pleased with it.
Starck reimagines the traditional watch face in a way that is innovative while retaining the ability to read it quickly. If you are using the watch on a day-to-day basis, you want to be able to tell time with a glance and not have it take a few seconds to sort out, as I suffer with a couple of my quirkier watches. This watch turns out to be quite easy to read. With respect to other deets, it's water resistant to 3 atm. It is 1 3/4 inches wide across the face and has a nice heft. A central hole goes through the face completely, bringing a sense of depth to what is otherwise seen as a 2-dimensional object. The design is very clean with no buttons and a hidden clasp.
Unfortunately, the clean design comes at a bit of a price. There is no backlight, and there is no date function. I have a small amount of reservation over how well the rubberized plastic holds up over time in terms of appearance and staying free of marks. I wish the clasp mechanism looked a bit more durable, although I have no sense that it is at any risk of breaking. Sizing is a little complicated, requiring you to actually cut the band, which of course invites the possibility that you cut too much. It's not really all that difficult, but perhaps a wee bit more stressful that removing a link. Finally, if you are a misanthrope and do not appreciate people asking how you tell time with your watch, this would be a bad choice for you.
Fossil also offers a variety of other styles, including a leather (faux?) band and a brushed metal band with more traditional links.
