Amazon sucks in many ways for sellers. As a seller I got scammed big by someone purchased a very expensive book, and then said he never got it. Let me explain.
For a few months I was making good sells, good money, and everything was going smoothly. Then, all of a sudden, A very unreasonable customer tells me (24 days after shipment) that he hasn't received his 54 dollar book. Luckily I have delivery confirmation and find out it was delivered to his address only 4 days after he ordered it. I kindly suggest that he check the post office, but he writes back and tells me "YOU need to find my book for me, I don't have time to be driving around post offices finding MY package. If I don't find my package immediately, than I'm going to Complain" (Amazon calls it an A - Z complaint).
I write to Amazon telling them what went on and not to provide a refund because I have proof that USPS said it arrived, but Amazon never writes back. In another similar situation, I get a negative from a customer and once again, I write Amazon (this customer had a faulty address, as stated on my Delivery Confirmation, he left a negative without ever contacting me). Amazon writes back and says they can't take the feedback away and that I as the seller should always strive to present "the highest level of customer service" to all customers and move on.
Back to the first person. So now what's gonna happen? I'm going to have to refund this A to Z scammer (a person with ZERO feedback) and he will probably leave me negative feedback (this person, whoever he is, obviously does not want me selling on Amazon).
All in the name of superb customer service, Amazon sides completely with the buyers as I pay $40.00 a month for a premium account. How easy it is for scammers to kill a perfect rating. And now I'm afraid of selling expensive books to other potential scammers, who just have to say that they didn't receive their book, and I must refund their money (by the way, here's a good reason to get postal insurance when selling on Amazon).
In a nutshell, I do absolutely nothing wrong and everything right, making Amazon hundreds of dollars a month, and they don't even answer my concerns. Am I done selling on Amazon? Off course not, since it's the easiest way I know how to make money selling books, but this one thing about Amazon really sucks!
There are countless other stories about selling scams on Amazon. You can read them all on the Internet. It's really too bad that this company is so customer oriented to the point of screwing their own workers. I hope they learn someday.
