If you are ordering a fairly common book, you can buy it from bn.com. Otherwise, first call the customer service to find out if the book is in stock.

I've purchased 3 books in the beginning of august, 2001. bn.com shipped two of them in 3 days, eventhough the website said that "shipping within 24 hours" for all the three books. The third book was not shipped along with the others.
I called bn.com after a week and they told me that the book is in back order. I did not call them until the beginning of september. When I call them again in September, I get the same response "the book is in back order".
I checked their website for the availability of the book. The website says "will ship in 24 hours".
I've decided to call their 1-800-... number before ordering any book. Otherwise, I may have to wait for a long-time before I get the book.
