The Bottom Line A very good site. It is my preferred site for purchases of books. Check out their college book store also. Consider their credit card to save more

I have been purchasing books from Barnes and Noble.com for about three years now. I probably order from them every other month or so. NEVER have I had any problems.
They sell books...of course. They also sell college books (hey, now you don't have to use the college book store which charges ridiculous prices!) and you can even sell back your books when you are done. They also sell videos, calendars, and similar items. They used to sell software, but stopped earlier this year.
Note that their book selection is much bigger than Amazon's. This is because they actually are a book store, with a large book store to support them. An analogy in the number of books they have: BN.com is a warehouse, Amazon is a big garage.
The web site is easy to navigate and offers a quick search mode on the main page. Here, you can search by title, author, or a specific word. There is also a more complex search mode you can use. They also have a list of top 100 books folks buy and a list of recommended books if you are not sure what you want to buy. People can also review books, which can be helpful.
The prices are comparable to Amazon or other online book stores. Sometimes they are cheaper, sometimes they are more (althouth MORE TIMES THAN NOT, they are cheaper than Amazon). I just bought a book recently that was 2 bucks cheaper with BN.com than Amazon.
To save money, I use the Barnes and Noble credit card. You get 1% back towards book purchases. They send you an email with a certificate you then use to buy books. If you don't use the whole certificate, you get a credit towards your next purchase. It's a great way to buy books for cheap..even free.
Currently, they have a buy two books and get free shipping. A very good deal.
Delivery time is 3 days (business) with free shipping (if buy two books). Not too bad.
An advantage compared to Amazon: If you don't like the book you got, you can return it to the local Barnes and Noble. No need to send it back and pay shipping costs.
In summary, a very reliable place to buy books. Prices are good. Vast selection, to include college books. Service is good. Use their credit card to get free books.
